Too often I’ve attended Comicons, and it seems each time that I walk the convention floor, I see the same egregious mistakes made by exibitors whether they be artist, dealers, or publishers. This episode will focus mainly on artist and small press. I'll do a longer one on dealers and exibitors. Enjoy.

Rule #5: Act like you want to be there.

Rule #4: Don’t have a cluttered table / exhibit booth (though this is mainly for artists).

Rule #3: Have someone watch your booth if you must leave it for a few minutes.

Rule #2: Don’t have a crowd just hanging around, loitering at your table / exhibit booth.

Rule #1: Don’t relish with glee, the opportunity to tell a potential client, “I’m booked!”

Leading up to the 2015 Academy Awards, the narrative sweeping the land after the nominees were announced was/is that there needs to be more inclusion in the images shown on the movie screen. Any felt ‘Creed’, ‘Straight Outta Compton’, and ‘Beast of No Nations’ were overlooked. Chris Rock spoke of diversity yet only through the lens of Black and White. Is the real issue diversity or is there a deeper issue at hand?

As an educator, I see a trend of students with no motivation to go beyond average, being not motivated to even be motivated. Why is this? Where did it come from? Let's talk about it with a few of the rock stars in my classroom.

A play on Philip K. Dick book, "Do Androids Dream Electric Sheep", on which the Ridley Scott directed movie 'Blade Runner' was based on, a majority of today’s high school students seem to embrace failure as an option because they either 1) feel that they will be bailed out by a teacher because of pressure to give the students a passing grade, or 2) they will always be served by a society that has conditioned them to think that society will wait on them hand and feet thereby the student doesn't have to do anything. Kinda like a diner in a restaurant waiting to be served by the waiter/waitress. I have seen the future of this country in classrooms, and it’s frightening. Yet, are too many of todays students doing what the school system has conditioned them to do? Lets talk about it.

With all the media spotlight on illegal immigration, there hasn't been an equal light shown on the students already legally in the US who are struggling to graduate high school and go on to higher education. Why the disparity in activism? The numbers of students, especially Black and Latino graduating is slowly climbing, yet the numbers of those not completing high school is still horrific. Let’s talk about it.
