Since 2008, Honor Flight Chicago has been providing an incalculable gift to our country's military veterans — closure. Through public and private funding, the organization offers vets free flights to our nation's capital to experience the WWII, Korean War and Vietnam War memorials in person, while also welcoming them back with parade-like pomp and circumstance to thank them for their service and sacrifice. To celebrate Veterans Day, Ozinga studio and podcast producer Jim Hanke chats with Honor Flight Chicago co-director Doug Meffley about the organization's history, the emotional impact this trip delivers for vets and volunteers, and how you can further support their mission. They're joined by Vietnam veteran, Bronze Star recipient and former Ozinga driver Harry DeBruin, to hear his first-hand tales of service, as well as his own Honor Flight experience.
