Starting off the 8 AM hour being joined by Mike Axisa (@mikeaxisa) of CBS Sports to break down the upcoming MLB GM meetings. Mizzou whooped Tennessee this weekend and .500 never felt so good. Gaines doesn't think Barry Odom is the guy to take the program where it needs to go. The recruiting problems are more serious than whatever is going on on the field. Gaines and Jeff want to just get checks every month for nothing. Trevor Siemian was anti-union and it's weird. Jerry Jones and Roger Goodell are going to war. Goodell has a hard job but it's still pretty good.
It was a busy weekend for the Saint Louis Live! crew, but everyone is happy to be here on a Monday morning. Will the Cardinals be able to change their roster development strategy? It would require a fairly significant alteration. Some discussion about whether or not Alex Reyes has any trade value or should be traded. Mizzou basketball looked really good on Friday and Travis is already buying his tickets to San Antonio. The NCAA tournament has a degree of randomness but the cream always tends to rise to the top.
Jeff is in for a sports-heavy Wake Up Hour. The Blues laid a massive egg against the Islanders on Friday, which is bound to happen from time to time. The Cardinals are off to the GM meetings this week and the move for an outfielder could be interesting. Jeff has concerns about the identity politics game that the Cardinals are playing. Are the Blackhawks getting ready to make a move with Coach Q? Gaines pops in for the end of the hour to let Jeff know that Travis has been locked out, and Travis yells at us through the glass.
Brad and Jeff talk about the rough start to their respective mornings before breaking down tonight's game against the New York Islanders. Are the Islanders good? What the hell is wrong with Jaro Halak? Exactly what is the state of the adult entertainment industry in St. Louis? All those questions and more are answered!
Chris sits down one on one with the Co Host of American Ninja Warrior and winner of The Apprentice, Matt Iseman. Matt is in town doing stand up at The Funny Bone. The guys have a great conversation about Matt's medical background, what it takes to survive in entertainment, being too handsome for the stand up stage, and so much more. Check out Matt on American Ninja Warrior and visit his website at MattIseman.com ... weareliveradio.com for past conversations.
TGIF! And that kicks off a long conversation about 90s sitcoms. Would you rather Topanga or Kelly Kapowski? Travis didn't know about a character on Sanford and Son. Zuckerberg was in town yesterday and he's definitely running for president. OJ continues to be OJ even though he's basically won the lottery a dozen times. Yesterday was 20 years since the Montreal Screwjob, and it was maybe the most infamous event in pro wrestling history. Happy birthday, Marine Corps! And happy Veterans' Day. Fair or Foul closes the show as always.
The Louis CK conversation kicks off the second segment as we discussion the allegations that were published yesterday. People who have weird strong sexual morality opinions are always the ones with excessive deviance. Are celebrity comebacks possible or desirable? Joined by Benjamin Hochman (@hochman) of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch to dig into a cornucopia of topics. We had a great time at Flyover Comedy Festival last night!
Jeff and Chris kick off the hour with a little bit of TSwift discussion and some praise for Rocky Top. Travis is here and he says the hawk is out, and the white people are all confused. Giamatti has some trouble with dates. Travis is fired up for the Mizzou home opener. Chris and Travis are off to the races talking Mizzou basketball recruiting. Martin Rucker (@RuckerSouthSide) joins the show to talk more Mizzou. We play a fun guessing game with the Seattle University mascot.
Jeff is in to break down the Blues 3-2 shootout victory over the Arizona Coyotes last night. They continue to receive a ton of scoring from the defense, and it's covering up concerns that may exist with the depth scoring. Bob Nightengale says the Cardinals are one of the finalists for Giancarlo Stanton, and Jeff goes into an in depth discussion of what has to be done to consummate that kind of deal. Lots of listeners text in for the final segment as we kick off a grab bag T-Swift Friday!
Brad and Jeff break down the Blues matchup with the Arizona Coyotes and get deep into the expectations with the current roster. What's a Danis Zaripov and what the hell is going on with Jay Bouwmeester's ankle? All that and more as we get you ready for tonight's game.
