Second, remember what you are to do – shine!

Third, remember where you are to do it – among men!

Fourth, remember how you are to do it – good deeds!

Fifth, remember why you are to do it - glorify your father in heaven!

Jesus declared his followers to be - The light of the world! In this message we consider what Jesus meant when he called his followers, the church, - the light of the world, city on a hill and a lamp.

The church at Antioch models for us how we can be prepared to handle the battles of life that come our way.  The exciting end result is that the Gospel is shared and that lives are forever changed, beginning with all of us who are willing to get ready and take radical steps of obedience. Let’s get ready and then step out in faith like Paul and Barnabas did!

In Matthew 5:12 - 16

The Lord teaches that the function of a Christ follower is to be an influencer in the world. Jesus did not call the church to be removed from the world but rather to be “influencers” of the world as salt and light. Today we consider the impact of the “salt”: Salt preserves, enhances and creates a thirst! The Christian is in fact a steward of “the saltiness” of the Gospel and will one day give an account to God for their impact on the world. How are you doing? Are you living like a Christian? Is your life influencing people to know and grow deeper in Christ?
