Chris Peterson, Director of Product Management for Apex at Salesforce, joins us this week to discuss Spring ‘20 Apex. Chris’s day-to-day is often complex; it includes approving increases in Apex limits, sometimes putting out developmental “fires,” and overseeing Apex product development.

Ryan Brainard, Principal Member of Technical Staff at Heroku, joins me on The Salesforce Developer podcast to talk about the curious history of Workbench.  While never an officially supported aspect of Salesforce (it’s technically an open source reference application) it has still found a place as something of a Swiss Army knife of debugging utilities for working with Salesforce and its related API’s.  Follow us along for an origin story of this toolset and it’s evolution over the years. This week I welcome Kris Gray, Principal Software Engineer at Salesforce, to the show. He shares how JavaScript frameworks have been used at Salesforce throughout the years. In the early years, the main challenge was a wild west of different frameworks.  Then as development standards were changing, Salesforce was trying to get its own component framework up and running. It’s been a long and complicated route to get to Lightning Web Components, so enjoy this brief history of JavaScript frameworks at Salesforce.

After moving to London, she soon realized she wanted to have a deeper understanding and better communication with the development teams at her organization. So, she decided to get Dev Certified.

Julia also talks about the importance of getting support and how she found support for her goal from a group known as RAD Women. She shares her experience with learning to code; including the most frustrating and most rewarding aspects of getting Dev Certified.
