  • Pillar of Salt | Episode 1

Welcome to the Pillar of Salt Podcast where there is no topic and we have no plan.

In this inaugural episode we talk about Magic the Gathering and World of Warcraft among other things.

(This episode was recorded the day before Wilderness Reclamation Growth Spiral and Teferi, Time Raveler were banned.)

  • Episode 117 - Western Films

It's finally here, the long awaited final week of Old Movie Month! What is time even really?

For this week we WERE going to do four westerns: High Noon (1952), The Searchers (1956), The Magnificent Seven (1960), and For a Few Dollars More (1965).

Buuut, Hank decided that despite John Wayne being of historical import for the genre, he couldn't actually stomach watching a John Wayne movie right now so he replaced The Searchers with Treasure of the Sierra Madre (1948), which is arguably a little outside the genre.

But, feeling ambitious Ben went ahead and watched The Searchers anyway. So, that happened.

Also, Ben watched the 2016 remake of The Magnificent Seven, so then he talked Hank into watching that as well. So... that's another thing.

We watched too many movies and spent 2 hours talking about them and their problematic genre, enjoy.

  • Episode 115 - Gwen Comics

This week Ben and Hank are talking about Marvel comics about Gwens.

Specifically Gwen Stacy (Spider-Gwen; Ghost-Spider; Spider-Woman) and Gwendolyn Poole (Gwenpool).

    The particular comics we're talking about are Spider-Gwen (2015), Spider-Gwen (2015-2018), Spider-Gwen: Ghost-Spider (2018-Present) and The Unbelievable Gwenpool (2016 - 2018).

Since we recorded this episode multiple women have brought accusations of sexual misconduct against Jason Latour, the co-creator of Spider-Gwen and the writer of the first 2 Spider-Gwen series (the 2015 mini-series and the 2015-2018 ongoing; as well as the original one shot where she appeared) that we talked about.

You can read more about that here: https://www.comicsbeat.com/jason-latour-misconduct-allegations/

Artist Robbi Rodriguez, the other co-creator of Spider-Gwen and artist of those comics, was also implicated in those accusations.

You can find more details in this article that gives a timeline for this wave of allegations across the industry: http://www.multiversitycomics.com/news/2020-allegations-timeline/

  • Attack and Defund God Podcast | Episode 1

Welcome to episode 1 of The Attack and Defund God Podcast where Ben and Hank talk about real world shit.

In this first episode they mostly talk about COVID-19, the Black Lives Matter Protests, Police Brutality, Systemic Problems and their own lives.

If you don't want to listen to two white guys talk about real life and politics that's fine, I get it. Don't listen to this episode.

This one is for us, we just needed to talk some stuff out.

Regular episodes of Salt Circle will resume soon (There are a couple in the tank already).

Also if we fucked up and you want to call us out on something feel free to.

We're talking about high stress topics off the cuff and we're only human.

Black lives matter. Defund the police. Wash your hands. Wear a mask.

  • Episode 114 – Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019)

Ben finally watched 2019’s Godzilla: King of the Monsters and Hank was so excited he rewatched the movie so they could talk in-depth about it. That is not to say that this is a good movie. It is not. Or that it is a bad movie that they like. It isn’t that either.

It is in fact a bad movie.

But it’s not boring and there was a lot to talk about. So listen to Ben and Hank rip into this bad movie like hungry wolves.

  • Episode 111 - Music in Video Games

This was almost a podcast just about COVID-19 but tired and needing joy in their lives Ben and Hank decided to just do an impromptu chat about some of their favorite music in video games.

Also there's still some COVID-19 talk at the end.

    Wash your hands.
