Salt Circle Podcast

This week's episode is built around the fact that Ben recently attended an NFL Football game. Hank follows football but hasn't really watched it in like three years, instead just listening to podcasts and radio talking about it regularly. So there's talk about that experience, some football talk, some general sports talk and some nice tangents on lots of other bullshit.

Hank loses the word armpit at one point, and also talks about the weird thing in DC comics of people getting their arms chopped off. So enjoy that.

Also Voice meter shat the bed briefly on Hank's end so there were some audio issues we tried to clean up, If any slipped by us we apologize.

Here's the youtube video on the 222-0 football game Hank mentions: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=doZzrsDJo-4

Ben and Hank talk about Avatar: The Legend of Korra, and by talk about I mean mostly bitch about the problems, while occasionally mentioning things they did like. This is a flawed follow up to a great show and while they both like it, they are also both very critical of it.

Spoilers abound from jump so be aware.

Ben and Hank have some thoughts on Harry Potter. So much so that they actually pretty much stay on topic this time. Well, except for a tease for the Lord of the Rings throwdown that will come down the line. This is a series that mattered to both of them a the time, but that neither of them is particularly emotionally invested in anymore so there's plenty of criticism to go around.

Inspired by that time the Burning Barrel Discord berated Ben into watching more Food Wars, Hank tries a different approach to see if there's other anime Ben would enjoy. Ben goes through his history with anime and then Hank starts throwing premises at him.

Please enjoy this double length episode.

This week Ben and Hank talk around the webcomic Questionable Content by Jeph Jacques. They springboard off into talking about webcomics more generally. and bounce all over the place. For some reason subs vs dubs comes up, and Hank goes on a short rant about why Inception is bad.

So y'know business as usual.

Avatar: The Last Airbender is the mighty oak around which this podcast grows and surrounds. This is a rambly one as we dip in and out of talking about a show that we both just think is great.

Ben makes poor life choices. Hank talks about anime. Ben cannot remember the name Aku (The shapeshifting Master of Darkness) for the life of him. Hank spends too much of his life pensively thinking about the production of kids shows. And Ben is unsure that Terrence Howard and Don Cheadle are different people. Also we talk about the terrible movie, the general lack of Avatar merchandise, and the fact that there are very good sequel comics that Ben won't read because he's against giving people money for things that they make.

We do not however dig into Korra, that'll be a future podcast.

This week on the Salt Circle Podcast Ben and Hank talk about the book Gulliver's Travels by Jonathan Swift. They go through the whole book, even though books one two and three are all garbage compared to four which is amazing. We've got poop jokes, piss jokes, humans being gross, the importance of using the whole baby and poop jokes.

Come on down.

Poop jokes.

This is not really a podcast for people for people who love Game of Thrones. This is a podcast by two people looking at Game of Thrones as a phenomenon like an animal at the zoo. Hank and Ben don't really have strong feeling about the show one way or another honestly. It's fine. It's the way the show has dominated mainstream culture that drives this conversation.

Get ready for talk of Christian's watching Game of Thrones, the rise of Incest Porn, and the way Game of Thrones manages to be watchable to people who do not give a shit about it, while also having a fervent nerdy fanbase, anime, and the power that comes with not having a dick.

Also they go on a bunch of tangents on other stuff that will probably lead to future episodes. Get teased.

Also spoilers I guess.

With season 3 having just ended Ben and Hank decided to talk about Rick and Morty for this week's show. Thrill as they talk about why they like the show and how they hate people who like it. Also Hank leaves to turn off his air conditioner and Ben has feelings about Doctor Who. Only the hits.

Spoiler note: The first 25 min are pretty spoiler free but after that it's the wild west of spoiler town. So do with that info what you will.
