In this special episode of Salute the Songbird singer, songwriter and radio host Elizabeth Cook joins Maggie for a live episode. Elizabeth and Maggie discuss Elizabeth’s journey as a country singer in Nashville, how she turned adversity into songwriting inspiration, and what it’s like to perform at The Grand Ole Opry over 400 times.

Elizabeth Cook has lived the country music lifestyle since she was a toddler. Her mother was a "hillbilly singer” from West Virginia, and her father was a moonshiner who played upright bass in a prison band. Cook began her musical career with The Blue Album in 2000, and was picked up by Atlantic Records for her 2002 release, Hey Y'all. She eventually requested to be released from the label so that she could stay true to her artistic agenda, and did exactly that, going on to release 5 stellar studio albums since she left Atlantic.

In this final episode of Season One, musician, songwriter and author Kathy Valentine joins Maggie to talk about growing up in Austin as the only child of a single mom, becoming the bassist for The Go-Go’s, and the process of writing her memoir, ‘All I Ever Wanted.’ Kathy shares some of her earliest musical influences and memories, what it was like to be a female in the rock industry in the 80s, and the creative projects that she's working on now.

Kathy Valentine has been a working musician and songwriter for over 40 years, ever since she started her first band at age 16 in her hometown of Austin, Texas. After moving to Los Angeles, Kathy joined a band that would go on to make music history: The Go-Go’s. In this group, Kathy wrote or co-wrote some of the bands most renowned tunes, including the hits “Vacation” and “Head Over Heels.” She returned to Austin in 2006 and began finding new creative pursuits and career opportunities as a public speaker, spokesperson, producer, actor and author.

Johnson released her sophomore long-player, All I Ever See in You Is Me, produced by Dave Cobb in 2017 to critical acclaim. It’s A Beautiful Day And I Love You is her third studio album.

Singer-songwriter Nicki Bluhm joins Maggie from her home in Nashville to talk about leaving California and the intense personal changes that influenced the music on her latest record, To Rise You Gotta Fall.

Nicki talks about making the shift from being a teacher into a full time musician, why she decided to release a visual album of Cher songs, and the tools she uses to maintain her health and wellness in the volatile music industry. California native Nicki Bluhm currently resides in Nashville, TN re-invigorated as a songwriter and performer. Embarking on her second decade of releasing albums, Nicki stepped out on her own with the 2018 release of ‘To Rise You Gotta Fall’, a collection of songs exploring old endings and new beginnings. Emmy-nominated actress and singer Chrissy Metz joins Maggie on this week’s episode to talk about her work on the acclaimed series This Is Us, recording her first album, and her book, “This Is Me”. She also performs “I’m Standing With You” on the Breakthrough soundtrack, written by 10-time Academy Award nominee Diane Warren. Chrissy performed this song at the 2019 ACM Awards. Chrissy recently released her memoir, This Is Me, which debuted at #1 on the NY Times Bestseller List and is currently working on her debut country album.
