Or: The once again triumphant return of the legend, the myth, the man -- Gurney Halleck! These chapters are chock full of grab-at-the-foot-of-my-robes preacher-ing, Indiana Jones-level adventuring, and multilayered, whose-plot-is-this-anyway maneuvering as we follow Alia to her brother, Leto to Jakaratu, and Jessica and Duncan to ... you tell us.
Dune talk begins at 15:30
As always, beam over your Dune thoughts to our email, [email protected]. Until then, Happy Merry Present Day of the Kwisatz Haderach!
Yes, of COURSE we’re back again with the latest ep! Woo-Boy, those Atreides kids are up to their necks in some sandy business… I don’t know if they’ll make it out alive, but I sure do like the ride.
We also sit a spell with our good Lady Jessica and the man who pined after her for so many years, that’s right, Duncan Idaho is still in this book and MAN does he act strange?!
We open the Ol’ Sandbag at 18:40!
Lance and Molly are back, with this round of chapters splitting their time between Salusa Secundus and Arrakis. Ghani and Leto handle their shit in the desert while Jessica questions Duncan's allegiances (getting strapped into an ornithopter at the behest of this mysterious Preacher might have something to do with her suspicions). Meanwhile, we get a healthy taste of Farad'n as ruler and just how big his hunger for power may be.
Dune talk begins at minute 19.

Things are gettin' good! We have some actual mail to read, the usual movie talk, and our favorite chapter in the book so far! Find out what we mean and why we mean it!
Dune talk starts at 17:30
Here is the HORNS link we mention on the cast:

There really is only one headline for this group of chapters: The mentat ghoula known as Duncan Idaho is BACK and he is better than ever. But what plot lies behind those Tleilaxu eyes?
Dune talk starts at 17:45
Okay, this one was a LONG one! What can we say? There was a lot to talk about with these thicker-than-usual chapters. These chapters were not watered down like Arrakis has been... in fact, they may be even more potent.

We'll be the first to say it -- these chapters really rocked. We've got surprise visits from old friends, fresh, heartfelt alliances, and exciting new ways for the prescient mind to completely eff you over.

While we recover from our own personal ecological change, we discuss the next four chapters of Children of Dune!
Things are already wild and we are ready for it! Crazy hand gestures! A severed hand! Whatever the Lustration is! Join us!
Lance and Molly are back and delighted to be discussing chapters 1-4 of the third book in Frank Herbert's Dune series, Children of Dune. This installment is off to a great start with the introduction of not one but two creepy kids, the looming spectre of Jessica's return to Arrakis, and tigers that might not have lasers in their brains but were genetically modified specifically to hunt and kill sets of twin children. Yes! Feels good to be back with Stilgar and the rest of generation Abomination.
Dune discussion begins at 25:52.
ANNOUNCEMENT: Last week's winter storm down in Texas threw off our recording schedule, so we're skipping a Friday and pushing the release date of our second episode back to March 13, in which we'll discuss chapters 5-8 of Children of Dune. Sorry for the delay! Shit got crazy down here! After that we'll be back to our normal weekly release schedule.
As always, feel free to reach out to us via email ([email protected]) or on Instagram or Facebook (@sandthepodcast). If you're enjoying the show, we'd love if you rated and reviewed us on iTunes, Stitcher, or wherever you like to get your podcasts.
We're coming back next week! Here's a short intro for the season with all the relative info! Stay Safe! Stay Sandy!
