Sand: A Podcast About Dune episodes

  • 206 - Bijazzled

Another one bites the sand! We've made our way through Dune Messiah and we are stronger, smarter, and a little bit wiser for it (even if  we still don't know how these f*cking visions work). In this, the final episode of our season two, we discuss many things including what a spice hangover must feel like, the futility of a second villain, and the condoization of Arrakis.
Come for the story arc of everyone's favorite tormented prophet, stay for the ghoula on high priestess romance.

Join us in a few weeks when we head into Children of Dune, including a promise to take on the Syfy miniseries. As always, shoot us an email at [email protected] if you so feel like it. Otherwise, we will see you once again ... in the dunes!

  • Episode 205 - A Deadly Paradox!

Molly and Lance are almost done with this little friend we call Dune Messiah. We will finally get to visit this vision Paul hasn't shut up about since the book started, we get a quick trip to Alia's nasty mind, and as always, there will be movie talk!

  • 204 - Chekhov's Lasgun

In which Molly and Lance discuss chapters 12-15 of Dune Messiah, the films they've watched recently, and just how the people of the Duniverse came to find out about the nuclear equation of lasgun v shield.

  • 203 - CSI: Arrakis!

We are over half way through this puny little book and things are getting HOT HOT HOT! Alia takes a bath and doesn't understand she's getting so sweaty! Hayt to be there when Paul finds out why! And of COURSE Paul is still moody AF! He won't shut up about the MOON!
We will talk about these chapters and, as always, dig into some movie chatter. Join us, won't you?

As always, we welcome any and all feed back. Shoot us an email at [email protected]!

  • Season 2, Episode 2: Hey, samuta talking to ME?

Deeper into the melodramatic world of Paul's empire do we go in this, the second installment of our Dune Messiah read through. We discuss chapters 4 - 7, in which (young) warrior goddess Alia makes eyes at the new eyeless ghoula in town, Scylatle engages in intrigue on three or four levels at once, and the suggestion of brother/sister incest is bandied about. It's getting SOAPY! We're here for it. Just don't ask Paul how his powers work. Seriously, the guy is really weird about it.

As always, shoot as an email if the atonal semuta music moves you ([email protected]). Otherwise, we'll be back next week with chapters 8 - 11!

  • Season 2: Episode One: WHALE FUR!

We're back for real! We have read the first three chapters of Dune: Messiah and are ready to spill our guts!
Everybody's older! Paul's kind of a dick! We saw Tenet!
Come back to us! You know you want to! The movie has been pushed back, it gives you plenty of time to READ ALL THE BOOKS!

  • Season 2 Trailer - Dune Messiah

October 9th -- we'll be back with Season 2 of Sand! We're going to be reading Dune Messiah, the second book in Frank Herbert's Dune series, bookclub style and we hope you'll read along with us. For the first episode, we'll be reading chapters 1-3 of the book. Just a note, we're counting the first two little snippets concerning Bronso of IX as the first chapter. We're excited to catch up with the gang!

As always, you can send your Dune thoughts (still down to talk about the trailer btw) via our email, [email protected]. Otherwise, see you next Friday!

  • Dark Side of the Dune

The trailer is finally here!!! And y'all, IT FUCKING ROCKS. Though some of us (Lance) are reluctant to jump aboard the hype train, we can't refuse with Villeneuve as conductor. In this episode, we break this jam-packed little wonder down frame by frame while Molly fans her face over how hot and cool the cast is. Warning: light Pink Floyd lyrical analysis.

We will be back with new episodes starting October 9th as we embark upon book II in the Dune series, Dune Messiah. Until then, gonna watch this trailer 10,191 more times and muse on what exactly distinguishes the fighting style of demons.

  • Frank Herbert's Dune: The Miniseries Part 3!

Well Sandies, we've reached to the end of Season 1! We made our Syfy made-for-tv-miniseries-before-the-golden-age-of-television bed and we must now lie in it. Thanks to the exhausting amount of fight scenes and a lackluster Baron death, we end on a note as flat as that animated Muad'Dib's ears. But we have fun!

We'll be back in about a month or so for Season 2 when we'll release a short catch-up episode before diving into the vastly misunderstood waters of Dune Messiah, which we will again be reading bookclub-style.

Until then, thank you to all who've listened with us this far -- it means the world! If you've liked the podcast, why not throw us a quick rate/review/subscribe? Hey sure why not.

Also, if you reallyyyy miss our voices/alarming bursts of laughter, we mentioned the other podcasts we do at the end of this ep:

  • Frank Herbert's Dune: The Miniseries Parts 1 & 2!

It's come to this! We just couldn't stop so we're back talking about the science fiction miniseries 'Frank Herbert's Dune'! In this episode, we cover the first two of the three part series.
Conflicting opinions! Bad costumes! Worse sets! Don't even get us started on the acting!
If you've watched it, we're sorry! If you've never seen it, congratulations, you should still listen to this episode.
There's some exciting (YMMV) Sand news at the top, Dune in and check it out!
