    In the first story, nature versus nurture is tested out on eagles and rice birds. Will the rice birds listen to their eagle mother?

    In the second story, a boy learns how to train his dog. Other boys want to play with his dog, but the dog wants none of it. How can they get the dog to play with them? Are people the same?

    A man with five daughters remarries. The new mom wants to get rid of the girls. So pops ditches them in the forest. At last they meet a witch who seems to be sweet, but one by one the sisters disappear. It is up to the youngest one to get out alive after she finds her sisters' heads in a box. Will she make it to safety?

  • EP 126: Philippines- The Monkey and The Turtle and others (Mabel Cook Cole 1916)

    Welcome back to the stories of the Ilocano people of the Philippines.

    In the first story, the Monkey is a jerk to the turtle and then is jerky to the other monkeys.

    In the second, a fisherman think the fish he caught was a priest. His wife thinks it is the governor. Both think they have committed a crime and try to run away.

    The third story is about a president who wished that he had horns, and then wishes he didn't when the people come to see.

    The fourth story is about a monkey that loses his tail but then trades up to get some cookies, but then he meets a dog.

    and finally, the fifth story is about a childless couple that find a magical gourd baby. And I'll leave it at that.

    Jean Malin (clever John) is an orphan who is picked up on the side of the road. The woman who comes to raise him has a gentleman caller, who is in secret a bull. Clever John figures out that the man is really a bull, and convinces the woman to break it off with him. After this, Brother Bull is very angry and wants to kill clever John. Can John use Brother Rabbit's magic grisgris to stay safe?

    In the first story, Linda Branca is hounded nightly by suitors. She has such a tough life because she is so beautiful. One day, she sees an ugly woman and wishes to be as ugly as her. The woman turns out to be an artist and makes an ugly mask for Linda Branca. After going to work for the prince, Linda finds out that it is easier to be beautiful after all. Stay beautiful!

    and in the second story, a boy named Peter sells his master's pigs. He tricks the master into also giving up his two bags of money with the help of a misunderstanding between the master and the mistress. But finally, Peter comes across someone smarter than him, and loses everything. Enjoy!

But because of magic, the boy's life is in a necklace inside a fish in the palace pond. Out of jealousy, the Duo queen gets the necklace and kills the boy. However, when she takes off the necklace at night, the boy comes back to life. Can anyone right this wrong?
