The New Moon in Pisces will be exact when the Sun and Moon conjunct at 23*03’ in the early hours of March 13, 2021. Pisces is the twelfth and final sign of the Zodiac, before the beginning of a new Zodiac year commencing with the Spring Equinox, and the sign of Aries, on March 20, 2021. And what a year this has been! Be mindful of the pull of Aries and spring (in the Northern Hemisphere) and make sure you take time before then to complete, conclude, and digest.  Pisces is fully reliant on connectivity, community; it’s the dual-fish connected within the Ocean’s unending medium. The quality of water does not permit bifurcation or separation. Water also carries an immense pressure the deeper we go within.

Growing up, the music of Pink Floyd played a really important part in my life. The idea of concept albums impacted my imagination and encouraged me to understand music as theatre and theatre as music. Here, my interpretation of one of my favorite song, Echos, recorded in 2006.

New Moon in Aquarius on February 11th, stimulates an energy of new beginnings in our relationship with inspiration, intuition and wisdom. The recipient of this transmission is our heart, the anatomical-physiological organ, as well as its related energy field. Listen to your heart and learn to slow its rhythms through mindful breathing. When breath and heart are calm, the mind will also calm (and vice-versa). Calm in the midst of sudden changes and breakthroughs (Aquarius) will make it possible to hear and listen to spiritual guidance, a necessary voice to choose our attitude towards life. The square with Mars and Black Moon Lilith in Taurus invites us to stay grounded through our inner strength and faith, and to manifest this stability outside of us, to support each other.   Key concepts: - calm & stability in the midst of change through breath and energy awareness

Recorded live in the woods of Belvedere, just outside of Siena. 

I recorded this Ave Maria in Sedona in 2009. I was visiting my friend Poranguì, an amazing healer and musician and, after a day hiking in the Red Rocks, I asked him to record it. It's me on the voice and harp, and him on the drums. The song is in Latin and the lyrics say "Ave Maria, Gratia Plena, Mater" (Pranams to you, Mary, Divine Mother, Filled with Grace"). This version is inspired by Radiodervish track by the same name. What I love about it is that I can hear the spaciousness of the desert, the heights of the Red Rocks, the immense sky of Arizona. I can feel it in the sound of my voice and I remember exactly how it felt then, to sing it in the rocks and then run home to record it. 

Long exhales, together with the vibration of the human voice, help lower blood pressure and heartbeat, and create a sense of calm. In this case, given the devotional content of the chant, it also allows one to feel a connection with something greater than the day to day human experience.

Last weekend I moved to a small studio in the countryside of Siena, Tuscany. One of the main reasons why I chose this particular studio is the well, a 17th century "pozzo" made of bricks and stone with a most beautiful soundscape that interacts with the weather. This is the first recording, candid, made without a mic, just my phone. More will come....

FULL MOON IN LEO on January 28 is an opportunity to balance and connect heart (LEO) and mind (Aquarius) through a contemplation (AQUARIUS) on our heart (LEO). In this contemplation recorded during my MOON CIRCLES, held twice a month on zoom, I invite you to relax, listen, breathe and receive any message or guidance that is appropriate at this time.

My fascination with the human voice as a mirror of one's physical, emotional and mental states started when I was very young.  When I lived in India (2010-2013) to study and practice yoga in the guru paramparai (unbroken lineage) of Yogamaharishi Dr. Swami Gitananda Giri Guru Majaraj, I received the teachings of the AUM chanting and the PRANAVA PRANAYAMA that sustains and enriches it.

I recorded this track at The Theatre School at DePaul University in Chicago in the late spring of 2019 with the support of my dear friend and sound expert Toy DeIorio. I chose to record the 108 repetitions live, rather than looped and to leave them unedited. Listening back to this track, I can hear the emotional impulses, how the breath slowly synched, when it didn't, when I got tired, and how, around half way through it, I let go of the performance of the japa and truly surrendered to become a vehicle for the sound of this powerful mantra. 

By the end of the japa I felt at peace and deeply relaxed. This is my hope for you and why I share it.
