hey tell us so this is the second day of my 30 day challenge with the bruckner um it's a total pleasure actually i'm really starting to enjoy it i still don't know it properly but i'm really starting to section bits off so i'm getting to that stage where i know which you know the implications of each part there's a complicated key change which really doesn't affect us we're playing one note i think tremolo all the way through it is it the tree i think it's in the trio um the the nippy bits are um quite tricky so we're going to have to get good at those um but they're quite they're very repetitive so once you get good at the speed so little bow as little bow as you possibly can and learn to be really flexible with your with your upper body so you know sway into it or um you know feel free to what i mean is i guess don't stiffen up if you stiffen up your upper body you won't you won't make it well the thing with orchestra is you don't actually

have to be really articulate at individual notes you're creating a mood as well for the composer and for the listeners so you can fall into these um phrases rather than give each note you know specific clarity that's you're not playing a solo piece it's not about you anymore so i mean it's quite i was playing loads of vibrato there and i thought hang on a minute i'm probably not going to be expected to do all that a little bit but you know you'll find out uh on in june um when we actually perform it you'll find out what was expected of us and this is really exciting as well the way this orchestra plays is the german um symphony orchestra is going to be very different to the way that the bloomsbury chamber orchestra plays it um we're going to inject

our own personality into that and this is the wonderful thing about hearing different versions we can't ask the um the composer he's not here to conduct us or to direct us so we're going to rely on our own personality as a mass as a throbbing organism of musicality and that's what's so exciting about going to different performances so you can go to you know 20 different performances of the same piece and they can sound almost different almost completely different you know um it's all about that sort of articulation but there's nothing you know big about putting on a solo show when you're part of an orchestra unless you're doing the solo the solo part um which you know that that's quite unlikely i think certainly for me um so yeah fall into those bits i think what i'll do is um i'll another few days in a week of the 30 day challenge

i'll start breaking it up into sections and then doing some broadcasts where i sort of talk about maybe the fingering and the articulation or lack of it therein um but really this is just all about this 30 day challenge let's see if it works and i'm absolutely convinced that this is the best way to learn listening and partaking in at the deep end at full speed is an amazing way i think but you have to do it often so you have to i'm absolutely certain that doing it for 30 days is going to mean that you will know this piece inside and out i already feel like i know the composer it's quite fascinating i think oh he does this this is what he does yeah i recognize this style um his you know his nuances his idiosyncratic um composition style i feel like i'm...
