The Homophonic! Pride Prize is a unique opportunity for LGBTQIA+ Australian Composers to work with amazing soloists to create a new work to be performed at Homophonic! as part of Midsumma Festival. Composers from across Australia can submit their work for the award. The winning composer is awarded $2500, and guaranteed performance and live video of the performance. Led by Artistic Director Miranda Hill, Homophonic! is a leading voice in queer classical music since 2011.

Macca and Isaac are joined live on air by Adam Fletcher from National Australia Bank; as they discuss the indigenous banking program that promotes indigenous goals and more sustainable banking systems.

Communities in regional NSW are now a step closer to receiving more health and medical services, thanks to a funding deal supported by the new Indigenous Business Banking team at NAB.

The deal will enable Indigenous-owned Bawrunga Aboriginal Medical Service in New South Wales to broaden the scope and range of holistic health care services they deliver to the wider community.

Bawrunga Aboriginal Medical Service CEO, Aunty Leavina Reid, said working closely with NAB’s Indigenous Banking team has supported the organisation to progress its vision to promote a holistic approach to healthcare in communities.

“With this finance in place, Bawrunga is expanding by opening new medical centres like the one in Dubbo, NSW,” Aunty Leavina said.

“NAB has been instrumental to helping us realise our dream, accommodating cultural needs and demonstrating care for the communities we provide services to.”

The Indigenous business sector is rapidly growing in Australia. NAB’s new team will provide a cultural bridge between Indigenous business owners and the bank.

Isaac, Macca and Paul talk to Melanie Duncan from ISANA: International Education Association in the studio and on the phone they spoke to Molina Asthana, National President, Asian Australian Lawyers Assoc,  former President  Law Institute of Australia (upto June 2022); as they discuss workers rights, students rights and radical changes taking place since COVID-19 restrictions lifted.

Macca, Isaac and Misha are joined live in the studio by Professor, Don Campbell, the Director of Northern Health’s Hospital Without Walls program in Victoria, who’s seeking volunteers for nasal spray trial.

Prof Campbell and a team of researchers from The Murdoch Children’s Research Institute, University of Melbourne and Monash University are now asking volunteers to participate in a study testing the effectiveness of heparin on Covid infections.

The study requires one Covid-positive person from a household, along with a family member who is not infected.

For the study, 400 households are needed in total.

Participants will be given a nasal spray, either heparin or a saline-based solution acting as a placebo.

They will then use the spray three times a day, for ten days.

The hard part for researchers is now finding participants, given many now don’t bother testing themselves for the virus.

Those with the virus need to alert researchers within 72 hours of testing positive.
