One of the things I love about doing these interviews is I never really know what direction they're going to go on. We don't have them scripted, we don't plan out every question. We just really let the conversation flow. Today's interview with the incredible and connected Amber Vilhauer was one of my favorites because I didn't expect for us to get to the root of what business is all about.
Amber has figured out how to build an incredible business that's built on genuine referrals because of how she pours into every single individual that she works with. I came into this interview thinking she was going to be talking about PR strategies and how to pitch yourself and all these other incredible things (which by the way, we do cover in today's episode and it's incredibly tactical and helpful!). But more than anything, she stresses the importance of connection, the importance of making the person you are with feel like they are the only person in your world in that moment, whether it's your child that you're talking to or a potential client.
I am so excited to bring Amber on and for you guys to hear from her because this is something that every single entrepreneur needs to hear and understand: The best businesses are built on the back of relationships and deep connection, and Amber is evidence of that. So we are going to get tactical but we're going to get real.

This one is for all of my friends that are right here with me, struggling with productivity.
How do you master your calendar and ensure that you're getting the things done that are actually going to move the needle? How do you focus on the right things? How do you even know what the right things are?
Tonya Dalton, author of The Joy of Missing Out, is the perfect person to come on to the show to talk about all things productivity, including: the pursuit of our passions, making sure that we are taking on the right things and saying “No” to the wrong things and mastering our calendars to get the outcomes that we want. We hear all the time about having FOMO, the fear of missing out. Well, she's kind of flipping the whole thing on its head and saying: actually, there's a joy in missing out on things. There is a reason that not everything deserves a space on your calendar and in your life.

You are going to obsess over today’s conversation with Curt Mercadante. I’m obsessing over it because it is so in alignment with what we preach here at Scaling Up. We’re talking about building a business that supports the vision you have for your life.
How can you make sure you are continually scaling a business that speaks to you? How can you make sure you are scaling your finances in a way that allows you to do more of what you love and be with who you love? This is what we’re talking about.
You are going to be so inspired after you listen to Curt. He gives some really specific tangibles and takeaways that you can apply to your life and business right now to make that pivot and ensure that you’re growing and scaling the way that you should be.

This episode is a little bit out of my norm, but I felt called to speak on this.
It is so easy to listen to the show or scroll social media and assume that I, or anyone else that you're following in the online space, is just this well-oiled machine. It's easy to look at what other people are doing and compare. We start feeling like we're behind or missing out.
So I'm doing an entire episode today dedicated to what I'm personally struggling with right now because I want to do a better job at pulling back the curtain. We're all facing our own battles.
I also want to make it abundantly clear that going after the dream is hard. Let's stop acting like there's some magical destination! It’s about the process, it's about the practice, it’s about the calling that's on your heart. It's not easy or pretty or perfect and nobody out there has it all figured out. New levels, new devils.
So let's air some dirty laundry!

If you’re catching this one in real time, it is Valentine's week and it's coming in hot! I thought it would be the perfect time to talk about all things love. We're going deep and talking specifically about how to pursue your purpose and calling in business while maintaining a strong relationship with your spouse or your significant other.
Sometimes it can feel like a tall order to manage it all. It's way too easy to put the people that we love most on the back burner because we take for granted the fact that we think they're always going to be there.
Gerard Brown and Jessie Artigue, the married hosts of the Marriage is Funny podcast, came on the show and I loved this chat! They've committed to pursuing Great Love over perfect love and have made it their mission to find the humor in every mess. The realness of these two make it really easy to see that it's truly not about having the perfect relationship, it’s about finding the ways to prioritize our relationships while we're navigating other parts of our life.
