You’ll notice, towards the second half of the podcast, that Nikki’s sound completely disappears. Poof, gone…the internet ate it. Never to be found. Our schedules won’t allow us to re-record it so we’ll have to let it roll this week. Sorry for the technical difficulties, these things happen and we’ve done all we can do to correct it. The last totally scandalicious thing you did?

Let my mother read Axel. Lol. And my grandmother. And my mother in law. Oh, and my brother. Haha! 

What inspired you to write this story?

My girls. I wanted to prove to them that it’s never too late to chase your dreams. Even with the times I wanted to give up…it was them who pushed me through. 

Where did the name Axel come from?

I have no idea. When the story came to me I was driving home just throwing ideas around and when I thought about my hero it just popped in my head. There was never any question that Axel would be my man. He was just…him. 

Why Marines?

I had a close friend who was a Marine and he always talked about the brotherhood and bonds he formed. He came home from serving his time and even through all that he had been through was the funniest, most amazing man we had the pleasure of knowing for way too briefly. 

Which of your boys is nearest and dearest to your heart?

Maddox. For sure. I think knowing what is haunting him and the struggles he has makes me more protective of my silent giant. Out of all my heros he will be the hardest for me to write and feel in the end that I did his story justice. What can I say, I love him fiercely. Mama bear is protective of her boys but especially that one. 

Tell me about a hobby or something you are really good at that people would find surprising.

Damn, just when I thought these questions were easy! Lol. I can match almost every pitch and every note to any song. Sounds kind of boring I guess but that’s all I got. I’m boring. Really. I can wiggle my ears too if that counts. Haha!!!
