Former Senator and Vice Presidential nominee John Edwards was seen as a star of the Democratic Party. At least, until he was found out to be engaging in an affair with a campaign staffer while his wife was dying of cancer. What at first already seemed despicable quickly gave way to abominable as details of the affair become uncovered.

In 2007, Idaho Senator Larry Craig was charged with disorderly conduct for allegedly pursuing inappropriate conduct in the bathroom of Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport. Given his strong anti-LGBT stance, this came as a shock to his constituents. What soon came, however, was the uncovering of a trend that had lasted his entire lifetime.
