For the third week of “Invisible”, Susan interviews Trent Taylor. After going through 5 different foster homes, enduring neglect, abuse, and even sexual abuse at the hand of family members, Trent finally found his forever home. Now a young man, Trent shares his healing journey, what he’s learned about dealing with family disfunction and trauma, and the tools it takes to overcome a challenging start in life. He credits his incredible adopted mom and his deep faith in God for the amazing success he has begun to have. Passionate about helping other kids and families in the foster care system, Trent is finishing his bachelor’s degree to become a trauma – informed phycologist. He has also started a nonprofit WATCH ME RISE, that provides tools and training to help foster families navigate recovery. At just 20 years old, Trent has won numerous academic awards, maintains a nearly 4.0 GPA, and is already working on his second book! A mentor, public speaker, and committed Christian, Trent is just getting started. An incredible example, Trent’s story reminds us that no matter how you start off as a child, you CAN recover and do something incredible with your life.

For
the second week of “Invisible”, Susan interviews D’lynn Westbrook. As a young girl with a difficult home life, D’lynn shares the heartbreaking story of how she was ultimately manipulated into a life of human trafficking.
We discuss how girls are coerced into this destructive industry, the predators who pursue, the long term affects, and why it’s so hard to get out once you are involved. With great candor and wisdom, she shares how sinister the entire sex industry really is. After nearly dying from a brutal knife attack, D’lynn experienced a spiritual transformation with God, finally giving her the strength to escape once and for all.
Now a devoted wife and new mom, her story of survival and healing will move and inspire you. Quick warning, due to the nature of this subject matter, this is a rated PG13 episode.

For the first week of “Invisible,” Susan interviews Anthony Guastella, founder of “On Your Feet” Detroit. Anthony’s organization works to help solve the homeless problem plaguing the streets of Detroit thru a number of creative initiatives. For example, The Wave Project - a mobile shower that allows people in the homeless community a chance to get cleaned up - so they can actually go to a job interview looking their best. Anthony sheds light on some of the misconceptions about homelessness, the surprising ways it can happen to someone, the unique challenges it presents, and how we can make a difference to those who might be in this position.
