THE TRUE CRIME CASE THIS STORY IS BASED ON: In October 1961, Joan Risch of Lincoln, Massachusetts, mysteriously vanished from her home, leaving behind a blood-smeared kitchen, an overturned table, and her young children alone. Despite police and FBI investigations, searches, and public rewards, no trace of Joan was ever found. Theories ranged from abduction, murder, or self-inflicted disappearance — especially since Joan had recently borrowed books on missing-person cases — but to this day, her fate remains an unsolved mystery.
