Welcome to Scatterbrain Podcast, Episode 17, The Anvil Episode.

In this episode, we review the new album "Legal At Last", the newest album from OG Canadian thrashers, Anvil.

Next, we discuss a brief history of Anvil and their difficulties in "making it", despite their wide influence and despite being one of the first bands in the thrash genre. Ian shares his personal experience seeing Anvil perform and meeting Lips. We also learn Ian isn't very good at "Interneting".

Welcome to Scatterbrain Podcast, Episode 16.

In this episode, we review the new album "V", from Denver, Colorado's Havok. We've had mixed luck with our album picks as of late - how does this album fare under intense Scatterbrain scrutiny?

Next, we welcome Los Angeles-based stand-up comedian Sandy Danto. He's done work with Pauly Shore, Bobby Lee, MadTV, National Lampoon, and more. He shares a bit about how he got into stand-up comedy, how he balances comedian life with being a parent, and his forthcoming album "Daddy Boy". He also tells us about the time he almost hit some guy over the head with a mic stand during a show.  This guy is hilarious. Check him out:

We're overachievers: We released an extra episode early this week so we could release this "dirty" episode today. Short but sweet, for your listening pleasure.

In this episode, we review the new album "Violence" from Grindpad, a thrash metal act from the Netherlands.

Next, we welcome Dirty Ron McDonald, the degenerate madman, to the podcast. He's a San Diego-based stand-up comedian, podcaster, and pro wrestler with his own wrestling promotion (FistCombat). Dirty Ron gives us some insight into what makes him tick and shares some of the creative ways he continues to entertain people during the pandemic shutdown. Check out his hilarious Youtube channel as well as his social media to learn how you can watch and/or attend one of his upcoming events.

"When it rains, it pours", "the cup overfloweth" - No matter how you cut it, we've kicked episode production into high gear the last couple of weeks and had this episode ready to go a week ahead of schedule. So, we're releasing this episode early to make room for another fun episode later this week.

In this episode, we review "Alienist", the latest release from Brazilian thrash metal band Decimator. Upon further discussion, we come to an interesting realization about this album.

Next, we discuss ideas and theories about panspermia as the source of life on earth. This is an extremely interesting topic, about which Ian gets very passionate about. We talk about "the missing link", evolution, and the possibility of civilization on Mars.  This definitely begs for a "Panspermia Part 2"!

In this episode, things get downright evil and nasty - it IS episode 13, after all.

We start with some music news then review "Shame is Just a Word", the latest release from Norwegian black metal band Svarttjern.

This sparks a discussion of metal genres - Is it all "heavy metal"? "Rock and Roll"? Are metal genres helpful or is it all the same?

Next, we learn about Richard Ramirez (The Night Stalker), the serial killer who sparked fear in Southern California in the mid 1980's. This leads us to a discussion of "nature vs. nurture" and people's potential to be completely evil and remorseless.

In this episode we find ourselves a little more Scatterbrained than normal, as we had both overdosed on caffeine. We review the new album "Peril" by Finnish death metal band Nerve Saw.

We also discuss coffee, its origins, and the history of its use throughout human history.  Somehow along the way, we end up on the topic of artificial sweeteners and their toxicity, as well as dogs raiding their human's weed stash.

Thanks for listening!

When we sat down to record this episode, we planned to do an album review and discuss another topic. Instead, the POWER OF METAL COMPELLED US to review 2 albums in addition to the topical segment. This ran really long, so we've decided to split the segments into separate episodes and make this an "All Music, All the Time" episode.

In this episode we review Warbringer's new album "Weapons of Tomorrow" and Cirith Ungol's "Forever Black".

We also talk about all sorts of metal-related topics: Nuclear Assault, Warbringer's crazy 58-day non-stop tour run, Nervosa's break-up due to loss of their bassist/vocalist and drummer, and new artists "picking up the metal torch".

We're now streaming on several podcast platforms, including Anchor, Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, PocketCasts, Breaker, and RadioPublic. More coming.

In this episode, we review the album "Slaves to the Nothing" by San Diego thrash metal band Beekeeper. After the review, we talk with the members of Beekeeper about life, music, and Beekeeper's future plans.  This episode was a lot of fun to record, and we think you'll enjoy listening to it.
