Tomorrow through Sunday, Back Alley Productions presents “The Diary of Anne Frank” at The Mars Theatre in LaFayette, Georgia. The drama centers on Anne Frank, the Jewish teenager who chronicled her hiding - along with her family - during the Nazi occupation of The Netherlands in World War II, until they were arrested. Skipper Fairbanks coaches boxing here in Chattanooga - at Red Bank Boxing Club. He is a five-time Golden Gloves champion who is now 83 years old, and he has been a coach for more than six decades. Skipper has had eight back surgeries and a heart surgery - but he remains in the ring, teaching boxing to amateurs ages eight and older. In between his coaching, Skipper stopped by “Scenic Roots”...

Here in Chattanooga, Trey Tucker is a teacher and a counselor at The McCallie School. Over the summer, he joined volunteers with the group Destiny Rescue, and they flew to Southeast Asia - where they helped local officials in something of a sting operation against the human trafficking / sex trade industry. Back in the spring, Dalton Middle School in Georgia started a mariachi program - to teach students how to play that genre of Mexican music. Since then, the students in their mariachi band have performed around Dalton - including at the Creative Arts Guild’s fall festival. Daisy Cardona is the band director at Dalton Middle School who created the mariachi program. She joins us - along with Janna Pye, also a band director at the school - and three mariachi students: Aaron Selfors and Anais Yajure
