Kevin Hincks reports from @cboeglobalmarkets as equity futures pop on a stronger-than-expected jobs report. 177k non-farm payrolls beat estimates of 138k, while the unemployment rate stayed flat at 4.2% in April. Kevin believes the report shows stability in the labor market, but also notes the March jobs number was downwardly revised to 185k. As the trading week comes to a close, he says "we're getting through a big gauntlet of a week" after the jobs report follows key earnings from Apple (AAPL) and Amazon (AMZN).

Jason Greer was going into this April jobs report expecting a big impact from Pres. Trump's tariff plan, but overall he believes they didn't have any material impact on the labor market data. Jason says "the floor's not falling out" on the U.S. economy but admits there is softening occurring, just not as quickly as others may have forecast. On the Fed's next steps, he jokes that Jerome Powell "has his phone on Do Not Disturb" as the FOMC meets next week.

On Apple (AAPL), CFRA's Angelo Zino says the "company's executing as well as it can" amid the current macro environment. He points to the "disturbing" and "disappointing" lack of guidance for its Services segment. He weighs the Epic Games legal battle underway, on top of U.S. & China trade tensions. Angelo estimates a $0.05-$0.06 impact from tariffs on China, and says the company can't provide guidance past the June quarter without clarity on what the exact tariff will look like. However, he believes 1 year from now the conversation around Apple will be much different and its A.I. plan will be figured out by then.

Apple declared a 4% increase to its dividend as well as authorizing an additional share repurchase program up to $100B.
