Scott Roche's Omniverse

Here’s another in the vein of EC comics. This is also King-esque in that my protagonist is a writer dealing with creative vapor lock and the extent he will go to overcome that (and its odd and terrifying consequences).

Zane Royce is having some difficulties creating his next masterpiece. He happens into The Grim Reader and asks if there are any books that could help spark his muse. Old Will is happy to help, but the book he offers does more than Zane could dream of and may end in a nightmare.

It’s available on Smashwords as part of the Tales From The Grim Reader.

It’s voiced by Paul Ellis.

I LOVE EC Comics and this story reflects that love (I hope).

What happens when a trio of young women try to bite off more than they can chew in The Grim Reader, an odd little book shop right next door to the Twilight Zone and in spitting distance of The Outer Limits.

It’s available on Smashwords as part of the Tales From The Grim Reader.

It’s voiced by Jake Bible author of Dead Mech, The Americans, and a host of other squirm inducing stories.

This is a story I wrote for an anthology that I wanted to write with a friend of mine years ago. It never happened, but I got some good stories out of it! You may want to keep some kleenex handy.

In the third story an art student has an encounter with a spirit who can’t seem to move on. In an effort to help her, he builds “The Music Box”. Will the ethereal music free the little girl?

It’s available on Amazon and Smashwords as part of the Far and Away anthology.

It’s voiced by Doug Rapson of the Geekacres Podcast.

This is a story from my Children of Legend series.

Standing up against bullies was nothing new to Rose. As a transgendered teen, she’d stood up to enough of it in her own life. This time though it had dangerous, almost deadly consequences. Given the power to level the playing field, she must decide on the best direction to go.

It’s available on Amazon and Smashwords.

This is a story from my anthology Far And Away.

“Bitter Release” is set in the trench wars of World War One. A young soldier finds himself the sole survivor of a German attack and buried under tons of mud and stone. His only way out seems to be a case of spirits, but there’s more to the mix of absinthe and brandy helping him to escape.

It’s voiced by James Keeling of Synaptic Jam Productions and Veronica Giguere.

This is another dark one. It was suggested by a good friend of mine and was a lot of fun to write.

Faced with the atrocities he’s committed to keep his wife and son safe and provided for, Chris is forced into a bitter decision. He must find a way to let go of his family and move on. But in a world gone to hell, is there any other choice?

I voiced this one myself.
