“Scream” (2022) relaunched the beloved Ghostface series that has always remained above other slasher franchises. The new film revived the series, and Radio Silence proved there is enough blood in this franchise to continue the story in several different ways. A sixth “Scream” has been written and will be filmed this summer, scheduled for release in March 2023. In this episode, “Freaky” writer Michael Kennedy returns to the podcast to discuss the future of the “Scream” franchise. There may be a three-part arc in the current storyline, as there was in the original trilogy. The filmmakers have planted seeds as to which path this trilogy may undergo as well as in the distant future in another decade.

“Scream” (2022) and “The Batman” (2022) each relaunched long-running series by new writers and directors. In addition to a common obsession of “Scream,” Ryan and podcast contributor Amar Karim also share a bedrock of love for the Batman films. Ryan and Amar evaluate each era of the Batman films: Burton, Schumacher, Nolan, Snyder, and Reeves. Then, they conclude the conversation by comparing the franchises: Scream v. Batman. In the premiere episode of the “SCREAM with Ryan C. Showers” Patreon, Ryan reads aloud a fan-written opening of “Screams” by NYU writing professor, Joe Vallese. This fan fiction features an opening scene featuring Sidney Prescott and Gale Weathers being stalked by new Ghostface killers.
