Screen Verdict returns to TV drama as this week Matt and Jonathan discuss Aaron Sorkin's new show on HBO, The Newsroom. After sharing their thoughts on Sorkin (Hint: Matt's favourite show is The West Wing) they go over the premise and the major players in The Newsroom.

After discussing some of the characters as 'the Jay Leno of news' and 'a lock for next year's Emmys' the boys share their interest in the news stories, politics and personal relationships explored in the show. At the end of the spoiler free segment they provide their Screen Verdict rating for the season.

In the spoiler half of the podcast Matt and Jonathan go into further detail on the plot developments of the season including who they want to end up with whom, their take on the political debate and what their hopes and expectations are for season two.

In our second annual look at the VMAs, Screen Verdict compares reigning title holder Katy Perry to contenders Rihanna, Drake, Gotye and M.I.A. After announcing the nominees Matt and Jonathan take a look at potential snubs that aren't really snubs in One Direction and Carly Rae Jepsen.

Moving on to the actual nominees the boys review why Katy Perry should have known better than to eat a lone strawberry, wonder who's shooting arrows at bulls (presumably Katnis), pick sides between Gotye and Kimbra, discover how many cigarettes someone can fit in their mouth and compare M.I.A. to Fred Flinstone.

After combining our scores we decide which is our favourite and cast our vote for best music video of the year. Lastly we receive a call from podcast guest Dutchy who shares how his sister Ruth Roubelle was also snubbed by the awards.

This week on the podcast Matt and Jonathan open by trying to confirm exactly how many Bourne films there are. They then discuss Matt Damon being replaced (not as Jason Bourne) by Jeremy Renner and which of the two they prefer.

They then review elements of the plot such as Jeremy Renner's junkie or retiree like need for meds as well as a Bourne staple in chase scenes on poor foreigners rooftops. They also discuss some of the side roles including Ed Norton, Rachel Weisz, Zeljko Ivanek and a surprise appearance from Kenny.

The boys also share what they learned from the film and give it their Screen Verdict rating. Lastly in housekeeping they reveal the winner of the Screen Verdict Debate, reactions to our drama character rank and a prize on offer to our Facebook fans.

On the podcast this week Matt and Jonathan pick sides when it comes to the new comedy from Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis. The boys go head to head over Matt's decision to eat cookies during the podcast but manage to come together over their take on the premise of the film. Other discussions include which people or animals do you not want to punch in the face during a campaign as well as which weapon is inherently the most funny to shoot someone with.

Matt and Jonathan also share their own campaigning experiences as well as strategies for a Screen Verdict campaign which involves replacing books with blu-rays. This leads into a debate for the right to the lead spot on the Screen Verdict presidential ticket.

On the podcast this week Screen Verdict reviews the Seth MacFarlane comedy Ted starring Mark Wahlberg and Mila Kunis. Matt and Jonathan take a look at how Ted came to be alive, what it's like to be part human, part animal, part object and why we believe Ted to be a generous lover.

Jonathan also shares some Flash Gordon trivia he learned watching the film and Matt takes a page out of Mark Wahlberg's book and tries to break up with a friend via the aquarium on the podcast.

This week Screen Verdict are joined by resident Batman expert Bas in order to review The Dark Knight Rises. The boys discuss their history with the superhero and thoughts on writer/director Christopher Nolan. They bring you up to speed with the story and share their thoughts on the first two instalments of the series.

In regards to The Dark Knight Rises, Matt offers some podcast therapy for Bruce Wayne, Bas cheats on his wife with Catwoman in a game of Screw, Marry, Kill and Jonathan reveals his mancrush on Tom Hardy. Further topics include the strange nature of time in Gotham City, how effectively Batman used the tools in his utility belt and one's ability to hear an explosion inside a football helmet.

(Contains Season 1-4 SPOILERS) This week Screen Verdict takes a look at AMC's Breaking Bad. We discuss our thoughts on previous seasons as well as expectations for the upcoming season 5.

The boys make some strong claims about the show including "best television scene of all time" and "worst episode of anything ever made". Topics include some of the decisions Walt has made, what's next for Jessie, why Saul is Matt's favourite character and why Jonathan has no time for Skyler.

Each season receives a Screen Verdict rating and Matt and Jonathan finish with a rank. Lastly Matt shares his developments on a grand romantic gesture that Jonathan mistakenly put in Matt's head.

In a bumper edition of the podcast Jonathan and Matt celebrate their one year podcast-versary by giving each other gifts.

But first they get tangled up in a Spider-Man review where Matt questions how well Spider-Man would do with the ladies, Jonathan has some tips for being a super-hero in high school and they both share some concerns about OSCORP security.

They also announce the winner of the 'Game of Thrones' competition, to see who will be walking away with a brand new book.

In a podcast all about girls Screen Verdict discuss HBO's two new comedy shows for the season, Veep and Girls. Matt and Jonathan discuss Julia Louis-Dreyfus as a girl Vice President in the follow up to Armando Iannucci's 'The Thick of It'. They also discuss the interesting cast in the office and decide who they would keep or fire. Moving on to Girls Matt and Jonathan discuss it as the new Sex and the City. They review each of the characters and play a modified version of one of Screen Verdict's favourite games in Screw, Marry, Kill. Then Matt and Jonathan give each show a rating out of 10 and the combined score provides the HBO showdown winner. Lastly they discuss the excitement of Screen Verdict's one year anniversary and Matt shares some humorous girl issues of his own.
