  • Screw the Naysayers - Ed Andrew: Stop Bashing Millenials
Ed Andrew is the CEO and Founder of the Human Consultancy, an International Guest Speaker, Career and Life Coach, and host of the Ed Andrew Podcast. Over his career, Ed has helped more than 10,000 professionals manage their careers in 35 locations around the world. He’s also an experienced entrepreneur who has built, owned, and operated businesses in London, Sydney, and Delhi. In this episode we dig deep into the challenges facing millennials in the transition to the workforce. He also has no time for millennial bashing. “It’s not their fault that they are the generation that will see the greatest impact on the workforce and that they are the generation pushing hard against the norms”. For me, the greatest value in this episode can be found in practical tips Ed provides for living a more intentional life. He encourages all of us to “unpackage the fear” that has been drilled into us an adopt a mindset that is focused on getting the things that will make us happy. He talks about the importance of at least 60 minutes a day of “self-mode time" (solitude, no earphones, silence), and shares scientific insights into the healing that can take place in nature. He even takes on Gary Vanyerchuck, and in particular the idea that people should use their twenties to gather experiences, and figure things out later. Stay with this episode. It takes me a while to hit my stride with the right questions, but when I do Ed shares a series of real gems. You can reach Ed at www.thehumanconsultancy.com and tune in to his podcast, The Ed Andrew Podcast at all the usual places!

  • Screw the Naysayers - Dave Lukas: The Misfit Entreprenuer
Dave Lukas is one smart entrepreneur. He’s also a best selling author, investor, master collaborator, and the Founder and Host of The Misfit Entrepreneur podcast. Dave is a true student of human behaviour and declares himself to be a huge proponent of understanding the conditioning of your mind, and how that conditioning impacts you. As a father, Dave says that he is constantly aware that everything he does is conditioning his daughter. This episode is jam packed with practical advice for entrepreneurs and wannabe entrepreneurs. He points out that the concept of a job is a relatively new thing, and insists that everyone has an innate ability to be an entrepreneur. He explains why everyone should start with a minimum viable product, why changes in technology are making it much easier to start a successful business, and offers practical advice for those of you that are struggling to find an idea for a business. And that’s just in the first half of the interview! Dave also offers a candid assessment of some big changes that are almost here. He feels certain that the future will be all about the gig economy (the end of jobs is a real thing). And like others I’ve spoken to, Dave predicts that the days of a $100,000 education will come to an end, faster than a lot of people think. There’s something for everyone in this interview. Enjoy.

  • Screw the Naysayers - Rich Rowley: Disobedient Since 1970
Rich Rowley and his colleague at the Mind Lab in Auckland, New Zealand are on a mission to revolutionize the way kids are taught. The Mind Lab is part of a unique private/public sector partnership that each year engages with more than 40,000 students (making it, in theory, the largest school in the world). In this episode, Rich talks about the project and why he is so committed to it (hint: he has a school age daughter). He also opens up about his own struggles at school as a student with A.D.H.D. (undiagnosed) and the journey that lead him to one of the world’s most unique and high tech education projects. Along the way, he shares his thoughts on the value of traditional grades, and the future value of University degrees. He doesn’t pull any punches. Give it a listen. It’s a fascinating story.
