  • #43 Meet Isaiah (this is going to be good!)

During today's conversation on Scripture & Story, we are starting our series on the book of Isaiah!

It is one of the richest books in the Bible, filled with messages about God's sovereignty and majesty, prophecies of the Messiah (Jesus is all over this book!), and promises of comfort, restoration and redemption. It's SO good!

And yes, I'll admit, Isaiah is a bit of an intimidating book, perhaps because of the prophecy and poetry. But as we walk through it together here on the podcast and in the companion Bible study called A Holy God, I believe God will give us understanding, and perhaps more importantly, expand our hearts and minds to the wonder of who He is: A holy, sovereign and loving God.

So grab a cup of coffee, your Bible, and your Isaiah Bible Study, and join me on the pages of God's Word.

  • #42 Waiting is Never Wasted (Part 2)

During today's conversation on Scripture & Story, we continue our discussion about waiting – something none of us like to do.

In a culture of instant-everything, where it's almost unthinkable that we would have to wait for anything, God invites us to wait on Him. In season of waiting, He's doing a great work in us as we surrender to His timing.

Although waiting isn't easy, it's unavoidable, and we can choose to cooperate with God while we wait.

So grab a cup of coffee, your Bible, and get ready to learn how to wait well, and join me on the pages of God's Word.

  • #34 10 Ways to adapt instead of quit your Bible reading this summer

During today's conversation on Scripture & Story, we are going to talk about how to not quit reading the Bible this summer.

Summer is filled with baseball games and country fairs, day trips to the beach and hours of lounging beside the pool. It's all things ice cream and popsicles, BBQ's and campfires, hiking a new trail and reading under a shady maple tree. It's absolutely glorious.

Yes, summer brings a much-welcomed slowness to our schedules, a freer approach to our time, and the rest we so desperately need.

But sometimes, in our effort to clear things from our calendars, we can let our time in God's Word slip down the scale of priorities. We skip it in favour of sleeping in, or a little longer at the park with our kids or getting a jump start on the tidying in the morning so we can spend time with friends.

While, it's understandable that our approach to Bible reading changes in the summer as our routines change, we don't want to ignore the Scriptures altogether. Today I'm going to give you 10 ways to adapt instead of quitting your Bible reading this summer.

So grab a cup of coffee, your Bible, and settle into your favourite deck chair and join me on the pages of God's Word.
