Into the middle of the treatise on angels, the writer interjects a compassionate warning. The author applies directly to the readers what has been said about Jesus—that Jesus is superior to everything and everyone, that He is the exalted One, that He alone can make purification sins, that He is God, that He is the Creator, and that He is worthy of worship. The author gives a pastoral urgent plea of compassion to the readers and hearers to respond to what they have learned. We’ll see doctrine breaks into urgent warnings of love.

Both the Old and the New Testament make clear that angels are creations of God. While they may have distinct privileges and even extraordinary powers, they aren’t divine. There is a contrast between servant angels and the reigning Jesus Christ. Angels are “ministering spirits” sent by the Lord Jesus Christ for the good of His elect peoples.
