Searching for Clair Huxtable LIVE was an event that filled the rollercoaster of emotions we all have. Laughing, crying, fussing, fighting, and cussing were the highlights of this event. We left on a high note of knowing there are still many differences in thought and understanding that exist between the Black Man & Black Woman’s point of view. The good thing is we agreed to agree on many topics … disagree on a few key points. Guests included Brandon, Chari, Eboni, Karima, Nicole, Tiffany and of course Maceo & WAE.
Race, society, roles, and sex all played out in discussions ranging from a man ‘whipping it out,’ to Black Women being in the corner of Black Men who may/may not be in theirs. We thank all our guests and welcome you to listen to this intriguing and engaging live discussion.
We live in a society where men having a “side chick”, also referred to as a mistress (if married), happens way too much. To some men, being in a relationship without a side-chick is like eating a meal without something to drink – Yes, it can be done, but it not as enjoyable. No matter society’s opinion of a side chick, there are plenty of women who go along with this dynamic. Sometimes it’s the part a woman chooses to play, and other times it’s a role given to them and they try to deal with it. So why is this particular woman finding herself as just the side-chick and not the main chick? Could it be that it’s a role she accepts? TV shows like “The Real Side-Chicks of Charlotte”, custom T-Shirts promoting the behavior, even a “Side Chick 10 Commandments” and “Side Chick Contract”s would prove that this role is not only embraced but welcomed.

What 1992 black Rom/Com starring Eddie Murphy, Halle Berry, Martin Lawrence, David Alan Grier, Chris Rock and Robin Givens (post her divorce with Mike Tyson) grossed $70 million domestically and $131 million worldwide? You have 20secs (We’ll wait….). The answer is – “Boomerang”. Now if you didn’t know that, then not only would you be asked to “Pick Your Poison” right now, but your “Hood Pass” or “Ghetto Card” should be revoked! In this week’s episode, we’re posting our first of many urban cinema classics that we feel coincide with the goal of SFCH Podcast.
To briefly summarize, Eddie Murphy plays “Marcus Graham”, an Advertisement Exec and playboy, whose reputation is to seduce the ladies, then love ’em and leave ’em for any variety of superficial reasons including what he refers to as “hammer time in her shoes.” (a.k.a. bad feet). Now Marcus isn’t above sleeping his way to the top, which we learn early on as his company is being acqu [...]
“Submission” has become a buzzword of sorts. At some point in the dating process its mentioned by us (men) as a desirable trait. But when we do, eyebrows are raised, eyes start rolling, and in most cases, an argument is about to ensue. It’s a frustrating conversation that women seem to go apeshit over. They hear us say we want a submissive woman and they envision a man wanting a woman like to Vanessa Bell Calloway’s character in “Coming to America”, the type of woman who answers every question with, “whatever you like” and will hop on one foot while barking like a dog (if necessary) to please her man. So, let’s explore this relationship dynamic and discuss what qualifies a man to lead and a woman to submit. In today’s metro-sexual charged society and apparent feminization of black men in the media, do black women even believe the black man is capable? Or maybe something is getting lost in translation between ‘Mars’ and ‘Venus’, and women need a clear und [...]
Birth control, Emergency contraception, and Abortions are hot-button topics that should be mandatory discussions in a relationship. Everyone knows that Birth control is designed to prevent pregnancy, but Birth control methods work in a number of different ways. To be clear, “the morning after pill” or “Plan B” falls under the category of Emergency contraception and is NOT a form of birth control…. or at least it shouldn’t be viewed/used as such. So if you are sexually active or planning to be, don’t use Emergency contraception as your only protection against pregnancy. In addition, Emergency contraception does not protect against sexually transmitted diseases.
“Plan B” pills are a great way to prevent pregnancy up to 72 hours after unprotected sex and can be used as a resource if a condom breaks or other means of birth control fails. Emergency contraception will not interrupt an existing pregnancy. So for the folks who (still) incorrectly believe that emerg [...]
Searching for Clair Huxtable is back with vengeance. Hosts Maceo and WAE offer the lost episode of the podcast. We just passed 1000 downloads and thank you all for the support and love. This is a giveback. Guests Donna, Chari, and Eboni (from episode 9: When She’s Not into Him) stayed over a bit longer and the discussion was heated. Takes from Maceo, WAE, and the guests go back and forth like a tennis match. All moving further to find a resolution to the ‘Black Dating Dilemma.’
Check this out and share with friends. Remember every Wednesday visit www.searchingforclairhuxtable.com for new episodes.
Well, well, well. We’ve finally made our way to the topic of “Sex Toys”. Although finding a woman who is against sex toys is pretty rare nowadays, some men, however, are a little intimidated by the idea of bringing a little ‘something-something’ extra into the bedroom. Considering the orgasm-inducing power of some sex toys, it makes sense.
Female (and male) sex toys have been on the rise for years, and more and more people are using them with their partners. A recent survey issued by “Lelo Global Sex” found that 72% of those who own sex toys use them with their partners. Of the women out there who own two or more sex toys, only 28% of them are single, in comparison to the 62% who are in committed relationships. Also, 78 % of women can’t orgasm by penetration alone and need clitoral stimulation. This means that if you’re not into bringing sex toys into the mix, then you had better step up your game.
If you’re in the category that’s still like “m [...]
So….you’ve made the decision to refrain from sex while dating. Congratulations! Well, sort of. While we celebrate your courage to make this choice, it hard to deny that in today’s dating culture, it’s highly improbable you’ll find someone who practices celibacy while dating. But maybe not. Maybe many other singles have made this personal and/or spiritual choice and decided to become celibate while they date. However, it can’t be ignored that for celibate individuals, relationships can be very difficult and are twice as challenging. The first challenge is, of course, meeting someone who is willing to be in a celibate relationship. That said, let’s explore the Pros and Cons of being celibate while dating, how one comes to this decision and is it really worth it? Our guest this week is Natalie. And Natalie has been celibate for 7yrs! You heard us right, 7yrs….and counting! Now before you ask, no she hasn’t been incarcerated for the past 7yrs, [...]
When a woman is right for a man, there isn’t a list long enough or words strong enough to explain all the things he loves her or how he truly feels. We all know that men are (mostly) visual creatures so we have to consider the effort, time and investment that’s been made before he reaches the conclusion that she’s “Mrs. Right”. Good or bad, every relationship has a starting point. So what happens when a woman is unreceptive to a man’s advances? When she’s just not into him? Is it deceptive to date a man if you know he likes you more than you like him? Would this be considered leading him on if you continue to go out with him and not make him aware? At what point does your this become an ethical decision and speak one’s integrity and principles outside of dating? [Whew] That’s a lot of questions! But believe it or not, we’re just scratching the surface. Based on some of the stories we’ve heard and others we’ve read on social media about gu [...]
