Fishermen are protesting at a new penalty points system which has just been introduced for trawlers found in breach of regulations. The Irish South & West Fish producers Organisation is launching a constitutional case against the new system, the ISWFPO Chief Executive, Patrick Murphy speaks about their objections to how the system will work. In 1962 an explosion on board the Irish Naval ship, the LE Cliona, nearly caused a disaster. It caused a large fire in the boiler room while the ship was on a live fire exercise, with many guests on board. The bravery of a number of crewmen averted disaster. One of them, Bill Mynes, who later received a commendation for his bravery, tells the story of that day.
