Rossaveel in Co Galway is the gateway to the Aran Islands & an historic fishing village in the West of Ireland. When Seascapes Lorna Siggins visited Rossaveal recently she found much concern about its future.

Recently Fergal was at the Skipper Expo, the trade show for Irish fisherman looking at some new technologies for the commercial fishing sector. Matthew McHugh of BIM had a net on display there which aims to avoid catching undersized fish.

Fergal attended the opening of a new facility for disabled anglers at Straide on the River Moy. The ceremony was performed by the Min for Rural and Community Dev, Michael Ring who praised the East Mayo Anglers' Association for their work for the past 10 years. Fergal also met Lester Cassidy, a 40-year-old angler from Kilcock in Co. Kildare, broke his back 21 years ago during a scaffolding accident.
