Imagine a paradigm shift brought on by the loss of a baby girl. Today’s guest, Linda Barbour, went through just that and her second wind story is like no other.
Linda was a schoolteacher for 16 years of AP biology and anatomy. Previously a researcher of agriculture for UGA, she is now a Chinese herbalist and acupuncturist. She will explain how it was going from the Eastern way of thinking to the Western way of healing.
This wonderful woman is a wife of 43 years, a sister with three brothers, and a mother of two. She is also a grandmother of four, three of which are living.
All of these experiences tie together Linda's second wind. Some might say her second wind came when she wrote her book, “510 Candles: The Illuminations of Nora Lorraine”. However, the birth of Nora and her short life changed Linda's life forever.

We all have sad and difficult moments in our lives but there is always a message if you know where to look.
Today I have the honor of bringing you Steve Wormer. Steve has had many different forks in his road but his true second wind moment was after his emotional affair with a coworker. Steve recently self-published his first book, Rivers of Hope, where he writes about this affair and its positive effects on his marriage. Rivers of Hope also focuses on his journey to hope through the trials he faced, from miscarriages, failed adoptions, and an absent biological father.
Apart from writing, Steve is a full-time Lead Evangelist for a church in Tennessee, the Executive Director of Hurt to Hope, a public speaker, and a leadership and life coach. The way his life unfolded for him after he found his purpose in that second wind has brought him to write his book and offer himself to a life of healing others.

You will love listening to today’s guest on the Second Wind Podcast. She believes our soul's purpose needs to be addressed and met here and that's why she is doing what she’s doing. She is a very selfless person and has some very definite feelings about death and our life and our soul. I appreciate what she does and for being on the show.
This guest is Star Bradbury. Star is a senior living expert who has given thousands of families the education and information needed to navigate the complex world of senior Healthcare.
She has been working with seniors for over 25 years and as the founder of Senior Living Strategies, she regularly collaborates and consults with individuals and families from all walks of life as well as professionals in the legal, medical, financial, and long-term care insurance world. Her 18 years working with a nationally recognized Life Care Community allows her to share her expertise in this otherwise confusing and complex senior living option as well.
Her new book, “Successfully Navigating Your Parents’ Senior Years” started as an outline that came to her in a dream. There was a different intended title called “Your Parents Don't Wanna Live with You Either” which I thought was hysterical and really on point.
Star has 72 accumulative years, which has gotten her to the point where she has said she is not afraid of intense personal growth. Star has all the ingredients to make her a perfect fit for Second Wind.

John Scott Leeward has a remarkable pre-second wind of his life. It includes an extensive background in television and movies, both onscreen and behind the scenes with his unique camera company. He has done all this while embarking on successful and long-running entrepreneurial ventures.
At age 68, John decided to put all that glitz and glamor off to the side. He chose to pursue what has been tugging at his heartstrings all his life. John knew it was time to listen to what he believes his purpose is. He discovered and honed in on the Six Universal Human Needs. These significantly rule over how we as humans show up in the world, not only for ourselves but for others.
These life lessons bring us to where we are and how we choose one path versus the other. In today’s episode, John shows us that this is what’s important. He will teach us that it's a gift to be able to do something with our life’s path to serve others.

Imagine leaving the comforts the corporate world can provide to find and do something greater than yourself. You can find purpose and fulfillment in helping others through dedication, compassion, and having a good heart.
Today’s guest has done just that. He is a gentleman I have known for years from the cycling world. I always wondered, “how is he involved in all these things?!” while smiling and making great connections.
Chris Doane is a Branding and Digital Marketing Director who found his sense of urgency growing as he approached age 40. He believes that we are all born blessed in some way. He feels strongly that if we're not using those blessings to make a positive impact around us, we are wasting something that is God-given. To this day, he continues to be blessed with a lot of energy to serve his purpose.
Through his volunteering at many cycling-based programs, Chris teaches others that the things that seem to cause so much anxiety in life will take a back seat when one's energy goes toward service. He believes that peace and personal satisfaction with life come through embracing a purpose and being relentless about fulfilling it.
He also motivates people to ‘keep showing up’ and continue to pursue their interests, regardless of anyone's looking or recognizing them.
Listen to Chris’ story of why he's chosen to go the path he has.

Today’s guest is Suzanne Conti, a woman who was 45 years in the science lab and has since started a thriving private chef business called The Farmer Can Cook. I can attest it is flipping delicious! I have ordered amazing dishes from there and will continue to do so.
There is way more to her story than a woman who went from the lab to cooking. She lived in an RV with her husband and planted her orchard. She has gone up against the state pest regulation of South Carolina and won and does not want glyphosate and other pesticides on her vegetables and herbs. She's a grandmother like me and just turned 66 with her own private chef business.
With determination and intuition, she skipped retirement and kept moving forward in her second wind.

We are very excited to bring to you today’s guest, Lynn Power. She is an extraordinary woman, like all of the women we bring on Second Wind. However, Lynn is extraordinary in every sense of the word.
She is a wife and a mother, an entrepreneur of brands such as Isle de Nature, and her newest brand of clean and direct-to-consumer hair care products called MASAMI. Lynn has been a marketing expert for over 30 years working her way from the receptionist to the boardroom. And she's worked with many brand-name companies, like Clinique, Estee Lauder, and Naima Products, just to name a few.
She has left her as CEO of an iconic advertising agency named Jay Walter Thompson, New York. And in retrospect, she is finding her second wind when she decided to give her notice. And the story that has come since then is remarkable.
What many people might not know is that Lynn is a recent cancer survivor. She was given the news and the treatment for an aggressive form of cancer while embarking on her new journey with MASAMI during the pandemic. It all happened like it was the perfect storm!
Listen to her amazing journey and how she kept such a positive attitude during this trying time.

In today’s episode, Patti shares her inspiring story of being at the bottom of life more than once through a divorce, significant losses, being the victim of a violent crime, and losing the love of her life, her husband, Don Gard. The one theme in her intriguing story is that God is faithful regardless of the circumstances. She gives encouragement and hopes that we can make it regardless of any circumstances. Her many trials, inadequacies, and fears have been the very place where she found strength and peace.
