Everyone is getting into the act of trying to influence next week’s elections. Iran and Russia have used cyber means to interfere. Their activities, however, pale by comparison with the multifaceted and aggressive efforts of Communist China.

Democratic partisans are using a variety of techniques to alter outcomes. So are mainstream media whose preferences for Democratic policies and candidates over those of the Republican Party are unmistakable.

The same has been increasingly evident in the social media, as well. A new documentary called “The Social Dilemma,” presents influential industry figures describing sophisticated algorithms used to addict and subliminally manipulate its users.

Clearly, such techniques can advance the tech giants’ leftist agenda. And it seems certain they will be employed for that purpose, probably dwarfing the impact of all the other would-be influencers. They may finish off free and fair elections for good.

In one of the few times last night when what was supposed to be the foreign policy presidential debate actually addressed what the candidates would do about challenges overseas, former Vice President Joe Biden laid out how he would handle Communist China.

Mr. Biden repeatedly declared that he would “make China play by the international rules.” This statement calls to mind Albert Einstein who declared: “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.”

If ever there were an example of a failed foreign policy it is the idea that, if we just “engage” with the Chinese Communists, they will behave and play by the so-called “rules.” What such engagement has actually produced is a very threatening PRC that uses its power to change those rules or contemptuously violate them.

Proven, counterproductive insanity is not an acceptable plan.

Our democracy is under cyberattack. The Director of National Intelligence revealed yesterday that Iranian operatives have sent threatening emails aimed at influencing voters’ choice for president.

DNI John Ratcliffe offered reassurances that our government is “on top of this.” Hopefully, that’s the case. Confidence would be higher, however, if he and other senior officials were acting to prevent what appears to be a far more serious electronic threat to our elections.

Dallas-based Allied Special Operations Group has been warning for many months that twenty-eight U.S. states rely on servers in Spain to process electoral returns. The Group’s Russ Ramsland recently presented evidence on my TV show, “Securing America,” showing at least one race – for Kentucky’s governor – being stolen in 2018 when such data streams were manipulated.

We need the U.S. government on top of fixing this vulnerability, NOW.

For patriotic national security professionals, what has happened lately to some of our most important frontline agencies has been traumatic and demoralizing. For most other Americans, it has been bewildering and probably not a little frightening.

Specifically, we all have witnessed not just the politicization of institutions like the FBI, the intelligence community and the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act, or FISA, Court. They have actually been weaponized to serve deeply partisan purposes.

The response of some serving and former members of the U.S. intelligence community to the shocking revelations from Hunter Biden’s laptop is a case in point. Notably, House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff and fifty past intel officers assert that there’s nothing to see here folks but Russian disinformation.

There are evidently no grounds for that claim – other than to misdirect the public and help a Democratic presidential candidacy, again.

The New York Post’s revelations last week of the contents of Hunter Biden’s abandoned laptop – including national security sensitive information, as well as sordid personal details – has triggered two competing responses.

For those who have actually been able to learn about these revelations, the reaction has typically been outrage at the evidence of endemic corruption in former Vice President Biden’s family.

This information has been systematically suppressed, however, by the so-called “mainstream” and social media. In its stead, these outlets have notably promoted another, fraudulent narrative from House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff blaming Russian influence operators for Hunter’s incriminating emails.

The whole point of having a free press is to let the public decide what to believe. Ditto the protected legal status enjoyed by Twitter, Facebook and YouTube. That status is not deserved, however, by those who instead act as partisan censors.

This country’s founders are relentlessly vilified these days by revolutionaries and their fellow travelers. But their genius is evident in the “checks and balances” they instituted to prevent abuses of power. 

In addition to our Constitution’s three, competing branches of government, that document’s framers believed that a free press could be relied upon to hold everybody else accountable.

So, they would be horrified by what has been happening of late within this so-called “Fourth Estate.” Today’s media has become an instrument of political warfare wielded by – or at least relentlessly supportive of – one party and its candidate.

Look no further than the mainstream and social media’s suppression of revelations concerning systematic Biden family corruption. If the clearly intended effect is achieved, it will influence the election, and translate into an even less free press – and less free country – in the future.

For weeks, we have faced a looming disaster – a huge fundraiser for the Chinese Communist Party being promoted by four leading U.S. investment banks: Goldman Sachs, J.P. Morgan Chase, Morgan Stanley and Citigroup.

 

Thanks to the access to American investors such Wall Street powerhouses can provide, an initial public offering in China by a CCP-tied conglomerate called Ant Technology Group expects to raise – mostly from us – between $60-80 billion. That money will translate into more Ant-enabled human rights abuses there and more Chinese economic and military threats to the rest of us.

Fortunately, the U.S. government is now moving to sanction Ant Group by placing it on the Commerce Department’s Entity List. Once that’s done, investors should be barred from investing in this company and others so designated. The same should be done with Pentagon-listed Chinese military companies operating here.

South Korean ambassador to the United States Lee Soo-Hyuck has declared, “Just because South Korea chose the U.S. seventy years ago doesn't mean it has to choose the U.S. for the next seventy years, too.”

This is a symptom of the “fundamental transformation” being systematically engineered by a key American ally’s  radical leftist president, Moon Jae-in. Crazy as it sounds – and despite widespread popular opposition, Moon aims to unify with totalitarian North Korea on the latter’s terms. And he is aligning with Communist China against the U.S. and Japan.

The last obstacle to this strategically disastrous makeover was removed in April when Moon apparently fraudulently secured a parliamentary supermajority with Chinese help. American leftists evidently hope to employ similar techniques to steal our election next – putting our freedoms and constitutional Republic at risk, as well.

We must not let that happen.

If Americans help this nation’s enemies build the capability to harm, or even kill, their countrymen and women, those enablers are considered to be traitors and are severely punished.

The question occurs: How should we view U.S. financiers who enable the Chinese Communist Party to raise funds for a company that is working to do incalculable damage to our economy and people? For example, Goldman Sachs, J.P. Morgan Chase, Morgan Stanley and Citigroup are lead managers of Ant Financial Group’s impending Initial Public Offering expected to generate $60-80 billion.

Some of that money will help underwrite Ant’s efforts to develop digital money the CCP intends to destroy the dollar’s status as the world’s reserve currency. The effect would be far-reaching and devastating.

The U.S. government must prevent such a betrayal. And hold its perpetrators accountable.

Tomorrow is National Day in Taiwan, an occasion of joyful celebration for the island’s freedom-loving people. If the Chinese Communist Party has its way, though, this year’s holiday may be the last one.

In recent months, the People’s Liberation Army has been mobilizing and exercising the array of military capabilities it has assembled for the purpose of attacking, invading and occupying Taiwan. Immense numbers of ballistic missiles, amphibious lift and other naval vessels, fighter, bomber and transport aircraft, and ground combat forces pose an imminent threat.

To its credit, in the face of such Chinese belligerence, the Trump administration has ramped up official visits and other tangible signs of its solidarity with Taiwan. Most recently, National Security Advisor Robert O’Brien sternly warned China against mounting any assault against the island, signaling such a step could gravely miscalculate the U.S. response.
