Donald Trump has often pointed to the unexpected decision of Britons earlier this year to leave the European Union as a model for his populist campaign and its ultimate, poll-defying success.

In the end, a majority of British voters rejected the support expressed by their country’s governing elite for continuing the steady erosion of U.K. sovereignty and flows of unassimilable – and potentially dangerous – migrants. 

Similar sentiment fuels the Trump candidacy.  It may be further sharpened among American voters by the latest development in Great Britain: a court ruling subjecting the execution of the so-called “Brexit” to more interference from the elite in the form of a vote in Parliament.

Americans are on notice that, if they do reject this country’s bipartisan governing class and elect Trump, he will need a strong mandate to overcome our elite’s opposition to “making America great again.”

Four years ago, then-Congresswoman Michele Bachmann and four other legislators requested an investigation of whether a top Hillary Clinton aide was helping align State Department policies with the objectives of the Muslim Brotherhood.  The lawmakers cited evidence that Huma Abedin had longstanding family ties to those Islamic supremacists.

No inquiry was conducted after Republican John McCain denounced Ms. Bachmann in the U.S. Senate.  Worse yet, the resulting destruction of her political career discouraged others in Congress from rooting out Islamist influence operations in Washington.

Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta’s emails indicate her team got Senator McCain to attack Ms. Bachmann.  But for that cynical, bipartisan effort to “shoot the messenger” and protect Huma Abedin, some of the myriad national security and legal disasters in which Huma has lately been implicated might have come to light years ago – and perhaps been prevented.

“Who is Huma Abedin?” is a short YouTube video that’s absolutely required viewing given the central role she’s now playing in the myriad national security and legal scandals plaguing Hillary Clinton’s campaign. 

Ditto the powerful position Huma would be expected to have in a new Clinton administration, perhaps as presidential Chief of Staff or Secretary of State. There’s even talk she would live in the White House. 

The video connects the dots showing, among other things, Huma Abedin’s decades-long ties to Abdullah Omar Naseef, a top Saudi financier of the global jihad movement, including al Qaeda and the Muslim Brotherhood.  That fact alone should have precluded her from getting a security clearance – let alone overseeing and mismanaging classified information and operations for a Secretary of State.

So far, “Who is Huma Abedin?” has over 1.3 million views.  Is yours one of them?

Before President Obama leaves office, it seems likely he’ll have to pardon not only Hillary Clinton, but her right-hand woman, Huma Abedin, as well. 

Ms. Abedin had legal exposure even before the discovery of many thousands of undisclosed and potentially problematic official emails on a computer owned by her estranged husband, disgraced pervert Anthony Weiner.  She apparently had perjured herself in previous false testimony about Mrs. Clinton’s emails and her own.  In addition, her longstanding familial and personal ties to the terrorist Muslim Brotherhood raise serious questions about her access to, and mishandling of, classified messages.

It remains to be seen whether Hillary will be able to avoid defeat in the wake of this latest evidence of Team Clinton’s serial misconduct and illegalities. But a presidential pardon is the only sure way she and Huma Abedin will avoid justice.

President

Obama will be campaigning again for Hillary Clinton today. Clearly, he seeks

through her candidacy what would amount to a third term for his agenda of fundamentally transforming America.

What

is becoming equally apparent is that for her to do that, Mr. Obama is going to

have to use his constitutional power to pardon Mrs. Clinton. Otherwise, a new Clinton

administration will be dogged by controversy, scandal and possible prosecution

and/or impeachment for its chief executive’s myriad, snowballing illegal

activities.

There’s

precedent for presidents to pardon individuals prior to any charges being filed

against them.  And, while a Clinton

Justice Department would be no more likely to indict Hillary than has been

Obama’s highly politicized one, public sentiment and congressional machinations

sometimes make official obstruction and stonewalling unsustainable.  Ask Richard Nixon.

The

question is:  Will voters pardon Hillary

before Obama does?

It’s obvious that Russian despot Vladimir Putin will be a major problem for our next Commander-in-Chief.  The contenders have not addressed a chilling fact, however: Putin seems to be preparing for nuclear war, quite possibly against us.

For starters, the Russians have largely put into place a brand new arsenal of thermonuclear weapons deployed on an array of modern missile, submarine and bomber platforms designed to operate against – and defeat – such limited defenses as we have. These forces have increasingly conducted simulated attacks, even as Putin has repeatedly threatened to unleash them.

Perhaps most chilling, millions of Russians recently participated in drills designed to test something we lack: an extensive array of underground bunkers and other civil defenses intended to protect them against nuclear conflict. 

We ignore these and other examples of what might be called “Putin’s reset” at our extreme peril.

Yesterday, the Center for Security Policy’s Christine Brim published an exhaustive investigation into the post-government business dealings of one of Hillary Clinton’s top advisors, former Ambassador Thomas Pickering.  Her report provides a clarifying window into how the Clintons and their associates have pursued personal agendas and enrichment at the expense of the country’s national security.

Pickering has long been a shill for Iran and an end to sanctions on its terrorist-sponsoring, nuclear-proliferating regime. Before he helped the Iranians secure such relief in the disastrous Obamabomb “deal,” however, Clinton’s favorite ambassador apparently earned as much as $5 million serving on the board of a Russian oil and gas pipeline company that violated those international sanctions.

For Tom Pickering, personal ethics and any commitment to the nation’s strategic interests are a sometime thing.  Ditto Hillary Clinton.

O’Keefe’s investigative organization Project Veritas is justifiably famous for

its undercover videos that expose and inflame the outrageous, covert misdeeds

of the hard Left and its allies. 

The

latest in a series of reports about ties between Hillary Clinton’s campaign and

unsavory political operatives at the Democratic National Committee and

ostensibly independent organizations reveals what would appear to be a new

legal problem for Candidate Clinton:  She

is credited repeatedly with personally ordering groups that are not allowed to

coordinate with her to dog – or I should say “duck” – Donald Trump across the

country.

 

O’Keefe’s

videos reinforce a conclusion already justified by Hillary Clinton’s other,

serial run-ins with the law – including violations of her own requirements for

safeguarding classified information while Secretary of State:  Statutes are meant to govern others’

behavior, not hers.

The Wall Street Journal reported on Saturday that Facebook has decided that Donald Trump violated its “hate speech” policies in calling for a ban on Muslim immigration until a way could be found to stop importing more jihadists. Its chairman, Mark Zuckerberg, however disagreed with some employees – including a dozen Muslims involved in censoring content – that Facebook should remove Trump’s comments because he is, after all, a presidential candidate.

Facebook has adopted, though, the European Union’s practice of suppressing so-called “defamation” of Islam. And Zuckerberg’s candidate, Hillary Clinton, supports UN Resolution 16/18 that effectively requires the prohibition of speech that offends Islamic supremacists.

If Mrs. Clinton becomes president, count on your First Amendment-guaranteed freedom of speech not extending to discussion of the global jihadist threat, lest it offend the jihadists.

That’s a formula for getting more of us killed by them.

Communist China is inexorably taking over the highly strategic South China Sea, using power projection to intimidate American allies no longer confident in U.S. might and President Obama’s willingness to use it in their defense.   

Yesterday, Philippines president Rodrigo Duterte traveled to Beijing to renounce his country’s historic ties to the United States.  That mercurial, anti-American populist announced that “the U.S. has lost me” and stated his desire to align instead with not only China, but with Russia, as well.   

It remains to be seen how Duterte’s “pivot” to embrace our adversaries and those of freedom-loving Filipinos will play at home. There is some talk of his impeachment, or even a military coup. 

One thing is clear: We cannot afford to perpetuate the weakness, irresolution and unilateral disarmament that are emboldening our foes and prompting our erstwhile allies to appease, rather than resist, them.
