National security fraud has been a hallmark of the Obama

administration.  Fraudulent claims to

have reset relations with Russia, disarmed Iran and routed al Qaeda are just a

few of the more egregious examples. 

Now, Deputy National Security Advisor Ben Rhodes has actually

bragged about deceiving the public and Congress about the President’s fatally

flawed deal with Tehran.  The mullahs are

$150 billion richer and more able to pursue their nuclear ambitions,

aspirations for regional hegemony and jihadism thanks to Rhodes’ successful

bait-and-switch. 

Sen. Mark Kirk of Illinois is among those who think that

Rhodes’ public admission of his lying to lawmakers should require his

resignation.  Anything less will only

affirm that perpetrating national security fraud is standard operating

procedure for Team Obama.  Worse yet, it

will assure that there is more of it to come. 

Ben Rhodes must go.

Even

as the Obama administration berates colleges and universities for the rising

numbers of rapes on campus, it is insisting that they take at least two steps

certain to assure there are still more

of them. 

First,

the Education Department threatened the University of North Carolina system

that, unless its state rescinds a statute that designed to bar men from using

women’s locker and bath rooms, UNC risks a cut-off of federal aid.  Should Team Obama get away with such

coercion, every other institution of higher learning in America will be forced

to create conditions in which rape is virtually inevitable.  

Then

yesterday, the Secretary of Education told such institutions not to screen

applicants for criminal records. That’s a formula for campuses not only having

males invading females’ privacy, but that some of them will be convicted sex

offenders. 

That’s

nuts.

Voters

in London just made a Muslim their mayor. 

Some describe the election of the Labor candidate, Sadiq Khan, over the

Conservative’s Zac Goldsmith, to be a milestone in the evolution of Great

Britain’s increasingly multicultural society. And, indeed, it is. 

Interestingly,

Milestones is the title of a book by

one of the most influential leaders of the Muslim Brotherhood, Sayyid Qutb. It

describes how Islamic supremacists must pursue a phased approach to dominating  unbelieving infidels. That goal is advanced by

electoral majorities arising from migration of the faithful to non-Muslim lands. 

Goldsmith

unsuccessfully warned of Khan’s ties to such Islamists. His loss brought

denunciations from his own party for undermining its efforts to “build bridges”

to Muslims. But Qutb declared such “bridges” could only be built for the

purpose of bringing infidels to Islam. 

London

is just the beginning.

Sunday’s

New York Times Magazine features a

fawning – and chilling – portrait of a disinformation campaign that’s operated

for eight years at the highest levels of the U.S. government. Its object has

not been to fool foreign powers or audiences. 

Rather, the point of propaganda campaigns orchestrated by senior Obama

aide Ben Rhodes has been to deceive the American people. 

The

paper credits Rhodes in particular with exploiting the presidency and the

inexperience, incompetence and sympathy for the Obama agenda of much of today’s

media to sell the “nuclear deal” with Iran. Rhodes manufactured a false

narrative about when negotiations started, misrepresented the nature and terms

of the unsigned agreement and used a friendly, socially-networked echo-chamber

to subvert congressional and allies’ opposition. 

National

security fraud endangers us all. Ben Rhodes is now exposed as its witting, and

damnable, perpetrator.

The

nation’s top intelligence official says the U.S. could experience Paris- or

Brussels-style coordinated, murderous terrorist attacks.  He still seems clueless, however, about why

that’s so. 

National

Intelligence Director James Clapper warned that the Islamic State could utilize

terrorist cells already in place across the country. But neither Clapper nor President

Obama have addressed what really has facilitated

jihadism in Europe: namely, the infrastructure of safe-havens, training

facilities and armories that have been put in place over the past five decades by

the Muslim Brotherhood among their mosques, Islamic centers and front groups. 

The

ugly truth is that the Brothers have been allowed to put such an infrastructure

in place here, too.  Like Barack Obama,

Hillary Clinton has turned a blind eye towards the Muslim Brotherhood’s stealthy,

subversive malevolence – and thereby enabled it.  Now, we need to know:  Will Donald Trump?

With

his defeat yesterday in Indiana, Sen. Ted Cruz brought to an end a remarkable

presidential bid. As one of his admirers, I am very sorry to see this

principled, courageous man leave the race. 

As an American who believes the country desperately needs a

course-correction, especially with respect to the national security, I pray

that his vision in that regard will nonetheless prevail. 

I

had the privilege of being asked to serve as one of the senior national

security advisors for the Texas senator’s 2016 campaign.  It gave me an opportunity to witness first-hand

his inspiring clarity about the threats we are facing, his unwavering commitment

to our friends and allies around the world and his determination to restore the

common defense. 

Our

times’ existential threats to freedom require such qualities in our next

Commander-in-Chief.  We must accept

nothing less.

One

of the most insidious legislative initiatives of the Obama years – and that’s

saying something – is pending legislation increasingly known as the “jailbreak

bill.”  Its progress through a Republican-led

Congress relies on false pretenses to put tens of thousands of hardened felons

back on the streets, and probably back in the business of violent crime. 

One

example of this fraud is its supporters’ recent roll-out of a new group called “Conservatives

for Safety and Opportunity.”  Turning

loose large numbers of drug-traffickers is something that could be supported

only by “conservatives” – and other Republicans, libertarians and Americans

more generally – who are indifferent

to the “opportunity” it creates for endangering our “safety.”  

Add

into the mix that at least some of

the felons this so-called “criminal justice reform” legislation would spring

have been converted to shariah in prison and you have “jailbreak for

jihadists.”

The

Obama “legacy” has a new, deeply problematic manifestation.  It’s the predictable – and predicted – fruit

of his decision to abandon Iraq by withdrawing essentially all U.S. military

personnel, against the strong advice of their leaders and most members of

Congress.  

The

principal beneficiary of this reckless act was Iran, the rabidly anti-American

nation he has gone on to further empower, enrich and embolden ever since. 

Yesterday,

one of Iran’s proxies, Shiite cleric Moqtada al-Sadr flexed his patron’s

muscles in the heart of official Baghdad. 

He sent thousands of his fighters over the walls of the Green Zone,

sacking the parliament and demanding a new government there. 

The

upshot of all this will likely be an Iraq that is even less stable, even less

of a bulwark against Iranian aggression and even more of a problem for this

country.  Some legacy, Mr. President.

The

U.S. military has long been distinguished by its embrace of values like

morality, decency and integrity.  Our

servicemen and women are expected to exhibit and protect these attributes. 

Yet,

the culture of our armed forces – like the common defense more generally – has

been under siege by the Obama administration. 

A prime example has been its appalling mistreatment of a revered Green

Beret, Sergeant First Class Charles Martland.  

During

a deployment to Aghanistan, SFC Martland physically intervened with an Afghan

officer who had enslaved and serially sexually abused a boy.  In Obama’s Army, such conduct was initially

treated as grounds for separating Charles Martland from the service.  

It

is a hopeful sign that, as the President’s term winds down, the Army’s

leadership has decided to keep SFC Martland in its ranks – thereby affirming,

rather than eroding further, the values he epitomizes.

A

new Government Accountability Office report provides a damning indictment of

the U.S. government’s dysfunction with respect to addressing and mitigating the

vulnerabilities of the nation’s electric grid.  

GAO

found that no one seems to be in charge of that mission at the federal level,

specifically addressing the threat of intense electromagnetic pulses (EMP), whether

arising from enemy action or naturally occurring solar storms. 

Fortunately,

state officials like Texas Senator Bob Hall are filling the leadership vacuum. He

previously helped safeguard our strategic deterrent against EMP and is

currently sponsoring a two-day summit in Austin to begin protecting his state’s

electric infrastructure.                              

Texas

Gov. Greg Abbott has also said he’s going to make securing his state’s grid a “high

priority.”  Now is the time for him to

translate that commitment into action

– and lead the nation in doing so.
