  • 013 ADHD Thinking Outside Of The Box
Sherri Dolheimer likes to have fun. She also loves thinking outside the box and helping others as they do the same; she has a heart of gold. That makes her job a good fit because she's an ADHD Coach. According to Sherri, fun is key, and thinking outside the box comes naturally to her and others with ADHD because, "we're people who don't like to be boxed in."
In our time together we talk about the different ideas people have about what coaching is and just how people with ADHD can benefit from using one. She understands how sometimes people just need to be listened to. Sherri grew up legally blind, which had its own challenges but her humor and warmth have helped create a coach who sees the potential in others when they sometimes cannot see it in themselves.
    SHERRI'S AWESOME QUOTE:
"If it brings out your shiny, go for it!"
Sharri tells stories of her diagnosis, the path that led her to coaching, and gives a shout out to her favorite therapist, Ellis Berkowitz. She also helped co-authored 365 Ways to Succeed with ADHD, and credits our alma mater, ADDCA, with founder David Giwerc, for helping her appreciate just how her thinking outside the box is one of her greatest strengths.

  • 007 Your Money, Your ADHD
Mike Testa is the ADD Advisor. He’s a CFP, CPA, and ADHD Coach. I asked him to come on the show and get us in the ready for tax season, which is ‘Now’ for many people, but ‘Not Now’ if you have ADHD.
    MIKE'S AWESOME QUOTE:
“Much of what I do is intentionally designed to work around that to get to the heart of the ADD brain.”
Mike shares some solid advice about getting ready for the tax filing deadline, managing your money, and creating an awareness around money in general in order to better meet your personal financial goals. All through an ADHD-friendly perspective!
I have to tell you that Mike is one of the most friendly and down to Earth people you'll ever meet. I highly recommend him should you find you need financial planning services. You can contact him directly at [email protected]

  • 012 | Abundance Of Energy Or ADHD?
My coaching business leads me down many paths. Not only do I get to help people reach their potential but I also meet other entrepreneurs who support me in various business, leadership, and podcasting groups. Many of whom have ADHD. And when they come on my show it's so fun because we have a lot to talk about.
Julien Marion is one of these kindred spirits. He's also a fitness trainer, a business coach, and owns a dance and fitness studio with his wonderful wife. Together they have 3 kids with a fourth on the way! And, he has a podcast I urge you to check out, The Path to Unlimited.
    JULIEN'S AWESOME QUOTE:
"I have more energy than most people...that's my story and I'm sticking with it!”
    Abundance of Energy
Julien is originally from Africa and shares with us the word he was called growing up. To me it sounded like chubilong, but however it's spelled, it means 'hyper'. To him and his family it meant having an abundance of energy. He credits his mom for channeling his power with breathing exercises, meditation, sports and marshall arts.
Listen in and learn about ADHD from a perspective of wholeness, intensity, passion, and power. Julien sees it as a difference in cognition, not a disorder, and empowers his students to do the same urging they not let others put limitations on them.

  • 001 If ADHD Makes You Feel Like a Square Peg
Alex Hofeldt is busy Science Communicator. He's responsible for teaching biology and astronomy to high schoolers as well as producing his own podcast, Beautiful Dust Specks, which marries podcasting with science, wonder, and motivation.
    AWESOME QUOTE:
"The more you understand about the science of you and the universe, the more stoked it makes you to be alive."
ADHD has never held Alex back from being his authentic self; although, it's presented challenges at times. In this episode he shares that in realizing he was a square peg growing up, he decided he'd make square holes. He's a huge proponent of doing things in a way that works for you, a message that resonates with me as a coach.
I left our time together completely pumped. I bet you will too, enjoy!

  • 011 ADHD Is A State Of Mind
Actor and producer, Geoff Pilkington, has come into his own rather recently while living out his dreams, LA style. He sees ADHD as a state of mind and wants others to focus on the positives. Listen in, as he shares his story from ADHD diagnosis to awareness to advocacy.
Originally from Missouri, he moved to Hollywood 10 years ago to persue a career in acting and film. He found the energy of a fast-paced talent agency suited him well...but things didn't really click for him until he happened to follow the advice of a friend and visit a psychologist.
    GEOFF'S AWESOME QUOTE:
"It's okay to have it ... there's nothing wrong with you.”
Geoff explains that having ADHD is just a way of being. He shares how he's come to believe this and makes a very compelling argument based on the work of others, most notably, Thom Hartmann. While there may be some drawbacks to having the condition, Geoff also lets us in on the fact that there are some almost superpower aspects he's experienced. And he also has strong opinions about ADHD medication and meditation.
Geoff and I share the mission to raise ADHD awareness and stomp out the stigma associated with it. It was such a pleasure to speak with him, I hope you too, learn from all he shares.

  • 010 | ADHD Adventurer in Real Life
Have you heard of people with ADHD often referring to themselves as a Jack of All Trades? That's because they are usually so interested in so many things...and how to do so many things...they can end up with a broad knowledge base.
Jerry Arbs came on my show last season, as well as earlier this week (Episode 6), and we talked about many of the interests, hobbies, and such that take up his bandwidth. The really cool thing is that Jerry sees himself an intellectual adventurer, and he's come up with some very awesome ideas on his trek.
    JERRY'S AWESOME QUOTE:
"I think through the power of our thoughts that we can change...a lot!”
Jerry shoots videos of himself and has quite the YouTube following (see here). In this episode he describes the time he discovered a class in Liverpool was using his videos to show real life examples of adults with ADHD who are successful.
Ultimately, he wants everyone to know, whether it's ADHD or any other problem you're facing, with time and perseverance, your goals and dreams can be obtained. Be sure to watch him closely as he continues to share the explorations of his mind and world.

  • 009 ADHD Resiliency
There will always be opportunities to feel defeated. We all face them. But challenging times, when you feel the rug snatched out from under you, can also bring forth possibilities you never saw coming. Possibilities for greatness.
As a coach, I ask people all of the time, “What does that challenge look like to you?” We all see things so differently that perspective means everything.
Now enter Tanner Gers. Though he had ADHD, he was your average all-American kid, until at 21 he was in a horrific accident that now renders him blind. So, the question becomes a little ironic, but let’s ask it anyway. What does this challenge look like to him.
    TANNER'S AWESOME QUOTE:
“Don’t try to put your perceptions on me.”
    Resiliency
Tanner walks his talk if nothing else. In this episode, he details several of the obstacles he’s faced. He’s aware of how his ADHD has factored into some challenges yet it also helps create endless possibilities for him.
Since his accident, he’s gone on to become an accomplished US Paralympian, at one point ranked 4th in the world. He’s a published author, motivational speaker, and successful podcaster of two shows, The Athlete’s Summit and his newest venture, the Creative Success Podcast.
Be sure to check him because he is amazing with extra zing!

  • 008 ADHD Is Not A Destination
Have you ever met someone who is on their journey and when they share their story you feel honored to have heard it? My guest today is sharing her story in hopes that others like her will know they are not alone.
Meet Tené Dowling. Originally from Bermuda, she now lives in the UK, but she's been all over the world. I loved listening to her...and not just because of her beautiful accent but her beautiful message.
    TENE'S AWESOME QUOTE:
    "Never underestimate somebody with ADHD."
    Not a Destination, It's a Journey
It may sound a bit cliché but not when it's about Tené. She gives real world examples of the ups and downs, which have defined her road travelled. All in all she says she wouldn't change a thing!
Tené is now on a path of advocacy. She's passionate about helping to shed light on what is such a misunderstood and underestimated condition. In helping you understand her, she hopes you'll see ADHD is not about being a rude child or bad parenting, it's about genetics and brain chemistry and never giving up.

  • 006 ADHD Conversations
Meet Jerry Arbs. He's a successful YouTube artist, videographer, photographer, vlogger, entrepreneur...and person. Join in continuing our ADHD conversations around the diagnosis itself and the ideas that swirl around in Jerry's head.
He began his YouTube channel with the goal of starting an ADHD conversations. He wants to talk about a lot of things but ADHD was the first topic that came to mind. So, he posted a video about what it was like to have it. You can see this video for yourself below.
I always enjoy spending time with Jerry and I'm sure you'll see why. He's warm, witty, and sensitive. And has thoughtfully mused over the subject of ADHD for most of his life.
He's come up with his own theories and revelations based on his perspective and then points out, so insightfully, that everything around us can only be viewed from our own perspective. And that everyone sees it different.
    JERRY'S AWESOME QUOTE:
"Your perspective on life, the way you think about it, is literally...everything."
Jerry wants to ignite a conversation with you! Because so many people ask him if they have ADHD, he doubts it's a yes or no question, but would love your input. Listen to how we start the discussion and then add your point of view either below in the comments or visit Jerry at You Tube.
We also talk about perspectives and state of mind. Jerry thinks that the most important thing a person can do is explore who they are and how they best operate in order to live life happiest. After listening to him, I think he's on to something!
