As part of our Journeys series, we shared the mic with Vaughan Wickins, a Breathwork Instructor and Gut Health Practitioner based in Henley-on-Thames, Berkshire.
After personally experiencing years of debilitating gut health issues, including haemorrhoids and constipation, Vaughan discovered that breathwork played a powerful role in improving his condition. This led him to train with the 4 X World Champion freediver, Stig Severinsen and qualify as a Breathwork Instructor.
In this podcast, Vaughan shares his personal journey, alongside practical, science-backed tips and techniques that show how the breath can be used to support better health and wellbeing.
Vaughan explains: “Overall health isn’t about hacks - it’s about habits. And breathing is the fastest, easiest habit to change. Within 30–60 seconds, you can change how you feel and how you respond to the world.”
Vaughan helps both women and men improve gut health, relieve constipation, soothe haemorrhoids and regulate the nervous system using science-based techniques that support better digestion, regular bowel movements, stress management, immune resilience, and overall mental and physical wellbeing.
Reflecting on his journey, Vaughan shares: “I know this struggle personally. Over the last 10 years I’ve lived it, studied it, and discovered practical, science-backed approaches that genuinely transform gut health and strengthen mental and physical wellness.
There’s a tidal wave of mental health challenges sweeping the world, and I believe real transformation lies in the connection between gut health and breathwork - two natural, accessible ways to reset the autonomic nervous system and shift from go-go-go into a state of calm, rest, and focus.”
Vaughan is the author of “Gutwise – The Secret to Healing That Pain in the Arse” and works both in person and online.
On OFFER is his NEW 14-Day Ocean Breeze™️ Challenge - a simple, science-backed course requiring just 4 minutes a day of his signature Ocean Breeze™️ breathing practice. The practice has been shown in Stanford research to outperform mindfulness.
