    Episode 27:
Join your hosts Carmen and Sophia Micsa
to learn how to raise your matrix and find sunshine with Dr. Victor Manzo, who is also the author of Decoding the Matrix, Powerful Tips for Unleashing your Potential Accelerating your Spiritual Awakening.

Dr. Manzo is a Business Mindset Coach, Certified Pediatric Chiropractor, Author, Podcaster, and Speaker.  He is the author of 3 books, the most recent one entitled  “Decoding The Matrix," which came out in May 2022. Dr. Manzo has helped hundreds of entrepreneurs learn how to create their dream life effortlessly through sharing principles of living in the Quantum world. He shares many concepts that relate to spiritual truths, Universal Laws, Quantum Physics, Neuroscience, Limiting Beliefs, Leveraging One’s Mindset, Reconditioning of the Subconscious Mind, and much more to achieve these concepts.

Dr. Manzo has the following advice and powerful insights to elevate your lives:

    • Thinking of the movie Matrix? For Dr. Manzo, the matrix, which he decodes in his book, is the mental human collective consciousness, as well as vibration/frequency.
    • Using quantum physics to create a different reality, since everything is energy and it will affect how we're setting the tone every day.
    • Why forging our own paths is helping us choose what matters in life.
    • Dr. Manzo points out that we struggle because we don't have trust in humanity and the universe.

On this Seeds of Sunshine episode:

    • Dr. Manzo indicates that how we respond to life's circumstances is the key to our well-being.
    • If we're not choosing something, we're reacting, so just do a small reset, such as a walk in nature, and come back to make the right choices and decisions.
    • The law of polarity means that everything is about perspective in life because how one sees something is how it will become.
    • Dr. Manzo says that we can all change our negative perspectives.
    • The only limitation is our imagination.
    • We are all creators in this life and visualization is powerful.

  • Master Your Mindset

    Episode 26

join your hosts Carmen and Sophia Micsa to learn Vin (short for Vincent) Infante's advice on mastering your mindset.

    Vin Infante
has over a decade of experience in mental health and worked with thousands of people. Vin is a former New York City firefighter and is currently a psychotherapist and master mindset coach. He addresses the deeper psychological aspects of the subconscious mind, neurology, and physiology, and how these aspects go hand in hand to create a more aligned and powerful life. Vin has also been featured in Forbes, NY Weekly, International Business Times, Entrepreneur, and a few other places discussing how people can create massive shifts and highlighting that in his hybrid coaching services.

Vin Infante has the following personal growth tips:

    • He defines fixed mindset vs. growth mindset. For instance, parents need to praise their children based on their efforts, not being smart.
    • To master our mindset we need to understand the five things that we can control within us: behaviors, feelings, thoughts, actions, and language.
    • Once we become adept at mastering our mindset, our circle of influence grows.
    • Vin also talks about how he overcame depression.
    • The baffling thing about depression is that it's there to help us while we ruminate enough to understand the change that needs to happen.
    • The key action to combat depression is action, body movement, and gratitude.

On this Seeds of Sunshine episode:

    • Analytical Rumination Hypothesis states that introspection is a key component to growth and making changes in one's life.
    • The biggest catalyst to change is the understanding that our current situation does not have to determine the rest of our lives.
    • Vin eloquently stated: "It only takes a moment to change."

To connect with Vin, please go to :

author of The Grey Drinking Reset:  a 30-Day Journey to Wellness.

Three decades ago Carrie Schell began her career as a midwife.  Over the years, her role in the health and wellness space has evolved with graduate school, becoming a yoga instructor, and as a Director of Health and Wellness, creating innovative programs at an addiction center.  She is presently a speaker and author.  Carrie's latest book is full of warmth, humor, and wisdom to help women who are grey drinkers, women who aren't alcoholics but have an unhealthy relationship with alcohol, create wellness in their lives.

Carrie's mind, body, and spirit approach to wellness, along with her humor and wisdom, resonates with others in their desire to seek health.

    • Grey drinking is not being an alcoholic, but it means making drinking a habit and a way to reward oneself.

    Episode 23:

Join your hosts Carmen and Sophia Micsa for the
last episode of the year, which has Japanese and Romanian New Year's traditions, as well as the quote and the joke at the beginning of the episode.

    1. Between Two Kingdoms – by Suleika Jaqouad, a memoir

    2. Cultish: The Language of Fanaticism by Amanda Montell, nonfiction

    3. Klara and the Sun by Kazuo Ishiguro, novel/fiction

    4. Cloud Cuckoo Land  by Anthony Doerr, novel

    5. Empire of Pain, The Secret History of the Sackler Dynasty by Patrick Radden Keefe, nonfiction – a powerful book and one of the most impressive feats of journalism.

    7. Finding the Mother Tree by Suzanne Simard, nonfiction

    8. The Sweetness of Water by Nathan Harris, novel

    8. All the Lovers in the Night by Mieko Kawakami, named best literary fiction for 2022. I discovered this Japanese author in London. I bought her signed book Heaven and absolutely loved it! Her writing flows like a river; although it is deep, it has a beautiful simplicity.

  • Never Too Late to Find Your Passion in Life

    Episode 21

Join your hosts Carmen and Sophia Micsa to learn how
SRA elite master runner Jacob Nur found his passion in life and how you can do the same. Jacob Nur is also the fastest master elite American runner in the 5K distance in the 65 to 69 age group. He broke the national record by 31 seconds, running his 5K in 17 minutes, which is a 5:28 per mile/pace.

Jacob Nur is a 67-year-old Eritrean American, who immigrated to the USA in 1984. The challenges he faced as an immigrant and more importantly upon his arrival here in the USA gave me so much mental strength to look at life from a growth perspective. Jacob received his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from San Jose State University and further obtained his Masters of Science in Nursing from Dominguez State University. As a registered nurse, Jacob has worked in various specialties. He also was promoted to a leadership role, ending his role as a chief nurse before his retirement.

In his mid-50s, Jacob discovered running as a hobby. In no time, he fell in love with it. After a few years, Jacob could run faster and surpass his own expectations by becoming a world-class runner for his age group.

Jacob Nur has great fitness and mental tips:

    • The environment Jacob grew up in had a lot of significance to how he is approaching life right now.
    • He took advantage of that experience growing up in Eritrea and turned it around.
    • Jacob learned responsibility at a young age.
    • After moving to different countries and landing in the United States, Jacob's dream was pretty much fulfilled here. He was able to go to school, get a great job, and make a lot of wonderful friends.
    • Things were not easy for Jacob, as he only had a ninth-grade education when he arrived in the US, but he worked hard and got himself educated.

On this Seeds of Sunshine episode:

    • Jacob worked with many war veterans, who taught him to appreciate life & view it from a more grateful perspective.
    • Jacob's passion for his work as a nurse translated to his running regiment & to his success. He also attributes his athletic success to his friends and SRA teammates who cheer on him and inspire him to hit new running records.
    • Success is about putting in the effort.
    • Jacob is a big believer in eating healthily. He also fasts about three times a week, doing a 16-hour fast and not eating before running.
    • Jacob's favorite running distance is the half marathon.
    • Jacob's next big goal is to break the 50K record in 2023.
    • Jacob's main advice to others is to not get disappointed when failing. Instead,  just take advantage of your failure and learn from it.

  • Finding More Purpose in Our Lives

Join your hosts Carmen and Sophia Micsa to learn about discovering more meaning and purpose in your life.

Adrian Starks is a motivational speaker, Host of Your Purposeful Life podcast, voice narrator, writer, mental health advocate, and entrepreneur. He believes that we as humans are on this planet for three things: To learn, to grow, and fully express ourselves. In the midst of that cycle of life experiences, is what Adrian often calls the human mess.  He believes that in order to do all three we must be willing to understand the mess as part of the process and develop ourselves to become more purposeful about our lives and be the change that we seek.

Adrian Starks has great tips for us to become more purposeful:

    •  The delivery of motivational speeches needs to be teachable and have action steps that can be implemented.
    • Motivation cannot thrive without having a motive
    • Teaching and speaking need to have more than a story. They need to have a system in place with action steps, and a philosophy that is implementable in anyone's life so that people from all walks of life be engaged in that conversation.
    • Purpose is something that we decide to do.

On this Seeds of Sunshine episode:

    •  We have multiple purposes throughout our lifespans.
    • Purpose is not one size all fit approach.
    • We have a responsibility to learn throughout this human mess, which is also the human experience. And that's why I see purpose as an action of understanding who and what you are and why you are doing it.
    • We have a human sacred birthright to be here on this planet.
    • Adrian’s own podcast Your Purposeful Life is a show about people sharing those moments of experiences of the human mess, which we need to hear.
    • We start thinking consciously about being in alignment with the planet, then the planet will begin to change for the better on its own because it's changing regardless
    • Learn how Adrian became a big fan of Aesop’s fables and why we should apply those lessons to our lives, such as learning to complete vs. compete to accomplish more in our lives.

  • ‘Chopped’ Champion’s Memoir on Turning Darkness into Light

    Episode 19

Join our hosts Carmen and Sophia Micsa to learn how Brooke Siem
went from winning the 'Chopped' competition to writing May Cause Side Effects, a powerful and beautiful memoir about anti-depressant withdrawal. Also, find out how Brooke's mom Dee Barbash played a crucial role in her daughter's healing journey.

Brooke Siem was among the first generation of teens to be medicated with antidepressants. Her debut memoir MAY CAUSE SIDE EFFECTS, was published in September 2022 and was named one of Good Morning America's Most Anticipated Reads. She is also a Food Network "Chopped" champion & author.

Dee Barbash finally followed her calling and became one of fewer than 100 worldwide Compassion Key practitioners who have earned Master Certification in the United States.

Brooke Siem and her mother Dee Barbash offer powerful advice regarding living life with more light and overcoming depression through the right modality of healing:

    • Compassion Key is a modality of healing that addresses anything that's chronically wrong in one's life & can release the deep wounding.
    • After having won the 'Chopped' competition, Brooke felt that validation that things can change. She also felt a unique joy that she hasn't felt in a long time.
    • Brooke is a firm believer that everything in one's life is changeable and that community, safety, and connections are key to healing. However, the ultimate change has to come from within and you, as the individual, are in charge.

On this Seeds of Sunshine episode:

    • "To live or leave," is Brooke's question! She chose to live & her powerful argument to choose to live over suicide is that by not committing suicide is a radical act of life-saving, since family and friends are more likely to follow.
    • Also, Dee's advice to parents is to not only get the right help for their children but also get help for themselves.

Brooke's interviews on Dying to Ask podcast and Moms Don't Have Time to Read Books will also shed more light on her struggle with antidepressant withdrawal.

  • Breaking Records and Running with Joy with Mira Loma’s Coach Paul Ioanidis

    Episode 18
Join your hosts Carmen and Sophia Micsa to find out how to break running records
and run with joy with Mira Loma cross country coach Paul Ioanidis.

Paul Ioanidis resides in Sacramento, California. From a young age, growing up in a military family, attending two different elementary schools, two different middle schools, and three high schools, Paul learned the importance and meaning of sacrifice, self-reliance, and community support. His parents modeled that lifestyle in their commitment to family, community, and our country.

In 2015, Paul became the head cross-country and distance coach at Mira Loma High School. The team has grown to 45 athletes and achieved success not seen in 30 years. Under his leadership, a Varsity team has advanced to the San Joaquin Section Meet five out of the last six seasons and an individual to CIF State Meet 5 times as well. In 2015, ten days after his 50th birthday, Paul accomplished his personal goal and ran the Boston Marathon after qualifying the prior summer in Eugene, Oregon. In his spare time, Paul enjoys cooking, working on home projects, hiking, skiing, and some occasional running.

    Coach Paul's running philosophy:

    • Running is a social sport and athletes should have a good time while running.
    • The hardest part about being a coach is constantly making sure that I am doing what's in the best interest of all my athletes.
    • Coaching based on each athlete's ability and running acumen is extremely important.

    • Running is humbling.
    • Eating in moderation and adding enough protein to one's diet is important for athletes to recover well and compete at the highest levels.
    • Doing workouts in groups is a great way for athletes to push themselves together.
    • Having a supportive running community is quintessential to one's success and enjoyment of their running experience.
    • Most things that we do in life should bring us joy.
