How close do you feel to your goals and the person you want to become? If your goals feel further away then you'd like them to, there could be one thing standing in your way of your confidence and success that a lot of people don't know about.
If you've ever thought something like, "gah, my house is such a mess. I'm such a bad mom." Or if you've ever wondered if people aren't liking or commenting because they don't care what you have to say, then this episode is for you.
The stories we tell ourselves about ourselves becomes the script of our lives. It affects everything we do - from the decisions we make, how we show up, and how much we believe in ourselves.
In this week's episode, awarded Self Worth and Confidence Coach, Charlsey Childers, breaks down why the story you tell yourself is so impactful when creating the life you want and she offers two tools on how to identify the particular story that's holding you back, which is the first step toward freedom.
To identify your story, you can take this simple quiz to better understand what is standing in your way of the success you want. Visit: https://charlseychilders.ac-page.com/success-quiz?test=true

Do you ever think:
"I should be doing more."
"I need to be busy all the time."
"I need his or her approval to move forward."
"I'm not making money with it, so I'm a failure."
or
"Nothing I do is ever good enough."
If so, then you may be addicted to external validation... or you may not. External validation isn't always obvious, nor is it always unhealthy.
If you know you're stuck in a cycle of seeking external validation or if you think you may be addicted to it, this episode is for you.
During our time together, we discuss what external validation is and is not, how so many of us (especially ambitious women) get caught in this trap, and what we can do to flip the script to start validating ourselves.
Learning to love yourself and be confident in who you are is one of the greatest rewards you can have in this life. It even creates a ripple effect in the lives of those around you.
After you listen, I want to hear your takeaways. Allow me to walk alongside with you on this journey by connecting with me on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/charlsey_childers
If you know external validation is standing in your way of the life you want for yourself, it is time for you to dig up this lie and change the way you see yourself. Your dream depends on it. Your first step is to book a complimentary 15 minute call with me so, that together, we can come up with an action plan for how you are going to do this. Have you ever thought, “I’m not doing enough. I could be doing more than this. I’m so far behind. Nothing is going the way I planned... In the 30 min I spent in traffic or having my adorable baby sleep on me, I could have been doing so much more. Ugh! Look, 30 min of what could have been productive… gone.”
Ever think those things? I sure have! It's a toxic thought that plagues driven, ambitious women. It holds us down, can be the reason we play small, and keep us from moving forward.

Believing in yourself and pursuing the things on your heart takes courage and confidence. Before you can build that belief, you have to be certain your desires are yours.
The question I have for you is: Do your desires come from inside you or from people around you?
This answer will determine whether you step in and own what you want, or throw in the towel. Part 3 of my Owning Who You Are and What You Want series will teach you one simple way on how to find out.
To help support you in this exercise, I am here to walk through it with you. Send me a DM https://www.instagram.com/charlsey_childers, and start claiming what you want like a pro!

You are back for part two of Owning Who You Are and What You Want. On last week’s episode, we started talking about the idea that when you’re desiring and even creating a better life for yourself than the one you’re currently living, it requires you to stand firm in who you are and stay focused on what you want, so you can have unwavering confidence in yourself, be your own cheerleader, and maintain your power over your thoughts and feelings bc goodness knows, they have the ability to get out of control.
Today, I am doing something special for you as a listener of the podcast. I took 3 hot topics from last week's interview, and, over the next few weeks, I am going to give you practical tips and strategies to help you build the belief in yourself you need to stand in your power and gain momentum on your desires.
The first topic we talk about is making the shift from where you are to where you want to be. What is the first step you need to take to pursue the things on your heart?
Tune in to find out and discover three practical ways to build your belief in a way that allows you to own your success and become unstoppable.

In this episode, we are talking about owning who you are and what you want.
When you're on the journey of creating the life for yourself that you envision - whether it be through becoming an entrepreneur, living sustainably, following your passion, etc - this journey requires you to stand firm in who we are and stay focused on what we want, so we can remain confident in ourselves through the obstacles we face, keep going in the direction we're going regardless of who supports us, and remain grounded in our own thoughts and feelings.
This journey demands for us to have an unwavering belief in ourselves and what we're called to do even when people don't support us, no one is cheering us on, and our own doubts get in our way. That can be really challenging.
As you're listening to this interview, I invite and encourage you to think about moments in your life where you can relate. Perhaps your spouse didn't support your desire to make a change or perhaps there have been times when you felt like you didn't know who you were. Hang onto these moments as you answer these two writing prompts:
1. If your life was a sheet of paper, what types of things would you want to be written on it?
2. Does your life and how you feel about yourself somewhat match up to that, not at all, or somewhere in the middle?
This helps bring awareness to who you are now and who you want to be. Then tune in next week as I give you practical tips and strategies to help you build the belief in yourself you need to make own the success you want.

Do you ever think, "what's wrong me with? Why did I do that? Ugh, I'm so stupid?" Or have you ever had a thought that kept spinning in your mind over and over again?
I get you. This thoughts are hard and they happen to all of us. We can even get so used to hearing this negativity that we confuse it with ourselves. When not dealt with in a healthy way, this negativity shows itself in many different ways. For instance, it can damage our confidence and self worth, cause us to not believe in ourselves, or get in the way of our success. When these negative thoughts are extreme, the manifest in extreme ways: anxiety, depression, OCD, eating disorders, etc.
Today's guest, Nancy Daniels, has had a successful career as a radio and tv reporter, and is now coaching people on how to use their voice on camera. When her thoughts manifested into a mental health disorder at a young age, it hugely impacted her confidence. In this episode, she shares how she first recognized that her thoughts were more than negative thoughts, cultivated the courage to get the help she needed, and the number one thing she did to build her confidence again in herself. Most importantly, Nancy reminds us that no matter what we are struggling with internally, it's important to normalize talking about our struggles so we can bridge the gap between silently struggling and struggling together.

Going after your desires can be hard. And part of what makes it hard is the pressure we feel to do things at a certain time. In this episode, Charlsey has a real, raw, say-it-how-it-is discussion about the idea of being behind in life. She discusses 5 signs or indicators to look to know when you are feeling this way, where this pressure comes from for most of us, and she gives you one, simple action step you can take when you're feeling this way. Do you ever feel like things have to be a certain way? Maybe you find yourself obsessing over life needing to look perfect or appearing like you have to have it all together...
You're not alone! And nothing is wrong with you!
As an ambitious woman, you naturally have an ability to see opportunities and have a desire to make things better. This is a great quality!
What trips us up is when we expect everything to be perfect all the time, we can't accept that messy can mean good, and we beat ourselves up when things look different than we thought or hoped they would. We start identifying with our mess... "a messy house means that I'm a mess!"
This is something Rhonda, this week's guest, and I can totally relate to.
In this episode, Rhonda vulnerably and transparently shares her testimony that's filled with grief, shame, and feeling the pressure to be perfect.
She is a wife, mom, businesswoman, and mother of an angel baby. Her mission is to inspire women to grow in each season of their lives and become all God has destined for them to be. Rhonda is a Business and Career coach, co-host of 24 Carat Conversations podcast, author, and founder of Tiana Project.
