The body exists solely in memory.

There is a profound section in A Course in Miracles where Jesus says, "At no single instant does the body exist at all. It is always remembered or anticipated, but never experienced just NOW. Only it's past and future make it seem real." (T-18.VII.3.1-3). Like all the images of this world, the body was an image that was invented by the ego as a substitute home for our eternal Home in Heaven. Talk about a downgrade! To go from an eternal Home in Heaven to a little slab of flesh! Yet it is only the ego's use of memory—a device that it itself invented to maintain its distorted world—that is the problem. The Holy Spirit can use everything the ego made to undo the ego. He therefore uses memory to help us remember Now, which is not in between the past and the future, but which is before time was. So long as time is perceived then, use it—not to figure out what to do with the body—but to be Guided into the Memory of Now.
