This is very common and pretty much more common than we may ever think it may be. This encompasses all the subtle tactic and "harmless" small negligible things that we are handed over by the narcissist like disapproval, interference and excessive criticism that destroy our self confidence and awareness.

We cannot be independent from the palm of narcissistic parents because of the guilt they put on our shoulders and because it terrifies the heck out of them since leaving the household as a whole threatens the need of the narcissist to be addicted on their narcissistic supply, the rat running the hamster wheel, the best there is giving them all the attention, care and praise they never get enough of.

This rarely stops even when a young child has grown to be an adult child that can be an efficient member of society capable of doing the nutty gritty things that will prove they are responsible for themselves.

There is a massive difference between both terms, but not to the extent of taking isolation which might encompass both to the point of misery, depression and being crazy or mentally ill.

NO! Each is used depending on different situations, internal as well as external factors which determine the state in which a person may decide to be in, in or out of a crowd. 

And as for loneliness is a mental state which also depends on those factors as well the outside environment (which is outside the control of the person under study experiencing loneliness) which might be a negative consequence of the environment surrounding this person or a calling from the guts of the person to stay away from the eminent toxicity and emotional distance which might result from it.
