Self-Harm Awareness Day takes place on Saturday, the 1st of March.
Pieta, the charity dedicated to preventing suicide and self-harm, is calling for better understanding and support for people affected by self-harm.
Almost half of the people who come to Pieta for help are dealing with self-harm, and most of them are under 25.
Self-harm is most common among teenagers and young adults.
To discuss this further, Alan Morrissey was joined by Matthew Oakes, Communications Manager at Pieta.
