Sequel Pitch

The meeting of minds is back! This week, Ross is hosting after last week's guest, Film Joy's Mikey Neumann, set us the unenviable but hilariously cruel challenge of pitching sequels to Gone with the Wind, the sweeping and undeniably problematic in a modern context 1939 epic romance starring Clark Gable, Vivien Leigh, Leslie Howard, and Olivia de Havilland.

Expect s lot of discussion about the terrible oppression of black people under the confederacy, so much bafflement about how the characters realising slavery was wrong not being part of this story, and a lot of discussion about the ethics of viewing films like this one in a modern context. It was a really... energetic but fascinating discussion to have

The meeting of minds is back! This week the boys are fanboying all over the place as for some reason Mikey Neumann, creator of FilmJoy and Movies with Mikey on YouTube has joined to discuss and pitch his own sequel for 2002's Post-apocalyptic science-fantasy Reign of Fire, directed by Rob Bowman and starring Matthew McConaughey, Christian Bale, Izabella Scorupco and Gerard Butler

Expect far more human baddies than dragon baddies, Janelle Monae and Sting as dragon hunting mercenaries, and Mikey just generally showing why he does this for a living while the rest of us are just amateurs.

Mikey Neumann

Mikey Neumann is the creator of the YouTube channel Filmjoy. On his show, Movies with Mikey, he talks about the artistry of film and why movies are great, and you should check them both out if you haven't already.

Quick production note - Matt's mic swapped to the wrong one about 3 minutes from the end of the episode. Despite how it may sound we have done everything we can to fix it, but just be ready for that :s

The meeting of minds is back! This week, in celebration of the release of Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part 1, Drew is hosting for our most impossible mission yet, as Ross and Andy go head to head pitching their sequels for 2018's action espionage stunt filled extravaganza Mission: Impossible - Fallout, written and directed by Christopher McQuarrie and starring

Tom Cruise, Henry Cavill, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Rebecca Ferguson, Sean Harris, Angela Bassett, Michelle Monaghan and Alec Baldwin.

Expect returning baddies, returning evil organisations and some extremely mad ideas for stunts, which we're sure Cruise and McQuarrie will easily upstage regardless

The meeting of minds is back! This week, Ross is hosting, as Andy and Drew go head to head to pitch their sequels for the 2010 Sci-Fi legacy Sequel Tron Legacy, directed by Joseph Kosinski (of Top Gun Maverick fame) and starring Garrett Hedlund, Olivia Wilde, Bruce Boxleitner, Michael Sheen channelling David Bowie, Jeff Bridges and Jeff Bridges dead-eyed 2010 digital double

Expect a lot of chat about how damned good the Daft Punk score to this movie is, a lot of ripping off of the Matrix sequels, and three men absolutely not understanding how computers work. Also, thanks to previous special guest Mike Bithell for inspiring us to pitch these sequels; if you enjoy Tron, digital novels and/or puzzle games, then get yourself onto the Steam store on your PC or the Nintendo store for the Switch and pick up a copy of Tron Identity from Bithell Games. You won't regret it!
