Welcome to the new edition, hope all of you are enjoying the Easter break, especially our friends and family in the UK with some warm unseasonal weather there. Here in the Sunshine Coast, it’s very wet & warm. Quite a lineup we have that spans many aspects of electronic music, it certainly opens up a varied sound world. Mihail Doman’s second album, ‘Neptune’, delving deeper into contemporary orchestral music, with a minimalist string score, thoughtful, dark, experimental with light flourishes from John 3:16. Heart-centered sonic meditation from veteran transformative, shamanic practitioners Byron Metcalf and Mark Seelig. Elizabeth Joan Kelly, a New Orleans-based experimental, ambient/industrial, electronic composer, audio tone poems that explore darkness and light by Fabio Keiner, John Novak addictive ambiances, interspersed with addictive melodies., breathtaking, rich, complex and beautiful structured soundscapes of Tom Eaton. Michael Neil’s excursions into Berlin School retro music under the guise of Maria Warner and the list goes on with twenty-one musicians showing us their Imaginative, creative side, composing music that has no boundaries & limitless in the world of sound.
Blast from the past ‘Last Train To Bayreuth’ comes from Spyra’s 3CD set, ‘Elevator To Heaven’, a personal interpretation of the ‘Bayreuth Return’, a theme dedicated to Klaus Schulze.

  • Sequences Podcast No 148
Shocked & sad to hear recently the passing of two fine musicians, Charles Thaxton & Gert Van Santen, who have graced our genre in electronic music over the years. Charles known as Char-el, was a California based synthesist and keyboardist/composer, performing in many bands and solo concerts for over 40 years, mixing in the progressive rock/symphonic new age territory.
Gert Van Santen was a member of Wave World, a Dutch/Canadian multimedia project attracting quite a lot of attention for its fascinating music and enchanting shows. During live performances, their impressive music was blended with computer-generated graphics of a virtual world, projected on huge screens, both these musicians were very likable, creative human beings, with the legacy of their music, which will live on in our hearts & minds.
You will hear on this edition, Andy Pickford’s new release Biosphere, which has a very filmic feel, full of strong rhythms, sequences, melodies, and symphonic themes. Syngate presents Colin Rayment’s new album FRB, stands for Fast Radio Bursts, only recently discovered very unusual repeating signals from distant galaxies.. London based electronic act Echaskech, a unique and compelling amalgamation of sound.
Tangram, music & name obviously points a finger in the Tangerine Dream direction. Ambient soundscapes from Massergy, are created entirely outdoors within a nature preserve, creating colorful and melodic arrangements, featuring deep bass tones, swirling textures and expressive improvisation.
Two collaborations with Michael Bruckner on ’Polar Vortex’ with Mathias Grassow a master of dark ambient & drone music & Volker Lankow, Berlin based percussionist on ‘Monsoon Offerings’. Vidna Obmana’s re-release of Landscape In Obscurity, a long exploratory driftscape, integrating spacious and atmospheric performances on flute and saxophone. The slow and drifting peaceful ambient soundscapes from Bing Satellites, with many more engaging sounds to create an atmosphere beyond the norm of accessible popular music.

  • Sequences Podcast No 147
It seems that our podcast no 145 was extremely popular with our listeners going by the stats. Funny enough it was one of Micks shows he enjoyed compiling.
Hopefully you will be again enthusiastic to hear what we bring to our latest edition, which brings such a diverse energy of electronic sounds.
It was a privilege to bring Clifford Whites music to Sequences, with tracks from his 4 albums in the Synergy series, melodic upbeat & relaxing tunes. Ambient side filled with such dynamics & spacial depth from Astovia, Neostra & going deeper into the dark side with NIMH. Something a little bit different from Craig Padilla with his long term friend Marvin Allen, melodic and rhythmic, surreal and drifting, the result, a timeless adventure through illuminating guitar tonalities and majestic synthesizer vistas. If it’s modular sequencers you want, you are going to enjoy Adrian Beasley’s album Machine Code & d’Voxx arranged Berlin School inspired sequence lines, wrapped up in a gorgeous blanket of modern ambience on the Din label. Lighter sequencing from the prolific composer SpiralDreams. On the ethereal vocals & the symphonic side, check out Xyrion, Neostra & James Asher. The creative signature sound of Saul Stokes. NNYZ? gives us highly detailed textures with glitchy beats & field recordings. On the experimental side the amusing & eclectic Bloop & Quack. Some lovely echoing slightly off-in-the-distance piano excursions played by Whalt Thisney & Tedd Arnolds unique sonic style, edging on the progressive side.
Blast from the past comes from the 1974 release Zygoat, composed by American Burt Alcantara with the main musicians on this album Brian Hodgson, Dudley Simpson & John Lewis, performing on ARP and R.S.E synthesizers. Brian & Dudley are known for their background music for various sci fi shows like Doctor Who and Blake's 7, Lewis was a member of the band M that had the huge worldwide hit, Pop Muzik.

Mac Of BIOnighT and a few other musicians have recently set up an alliance of EM musicians called EM Force, please check the updated page for new members: http://www.macvibes.com/EMFORCE.htm
This project is basically based on the concept divided we fall, united we win (well not so melodramatically, perhaps, but that's the general idea).
We are still in the very early stages and starting small in scope, but we have big plans for the future and hopefully this might grow to be something great in this musical area.

At last some rest-bite from the searing heat we had recently here in Oz.
Luckily cyclone Oma pounding the coast of Queensland this weekend, cause only light damage compared with the devastation in North Queensland and the outback a few weeks ago, with floods on a monumental scale killing over half a million cattle sheep & indigenous wildlife, damaging over twenty thousand properties & businesses too.
As we’ve said so many times, your into some serious quality music from our lineup in the latest edition. With an elevated mix of electronic music, to take you on a journey into the realms of spacial awareness, hypnotic, unique, creative and thought provoking. Music a powerful force in all it forms to stir ones innerself, giving a light release for the chaotic world we live in. We welcome, Erothyme, a majestic blend of overblown hyperbole and meaningless adjectives, Streamline’s delicate ambient structures, Abbildung, classic dark ambient, Little Star, the celestial songstress, Onsturicheit, unpredictable soundscapes and Erot & Lauge, inspired chill out into our collective band of the musicians we’ve promoted over the years.
With our blast from the past coming from Carlos Guirao founding member of Neuronium, it was sad to hear he passed away in 2012. As a tribute, we bring you the titled song from his first solo album, “Revelation”, and two tracks from later releases.

Throughout the next 12 months ahead we will bring you the latest releases as always, from musicians based around the globe. Expect the unexpected in the music we play, be it sequential to cinematic, ambient to experimental, exploring the unusual too, taxing the senses.
Feedback for the Bernd Kistenmacher special was well received by the fans, more to come later in the year.
A few to mention on this podcast, includes Craig Padilla as guest on the Instrumental psyche-space-rock band, The Fellowship Of Hallucinatory Voyagers, epic Enigma influenced, cinematic soundtracks from Anhidema, Andy Pickford’s second release of the Objects & Expressions series. Taking us into the creative mind of Michael Neil, the neo classical, ’Six Pieces Of Orchestra’ and Nord’s Christmas collection, don’t worry it’s not cover versions, but mainly tracks taken from his catalogue of albums with some unreleased music as well.
