  • 107: Your Voice Needs to Be Heard - Public Speaking with Kate Cashman

There's usually 3 camps you might sit in when you hear the word public speaker:

    1. That's not relevant to me, I'm not a public speaker
    2. AGGHH public speaker. YUCK. Never ever.
    3. Yes! Tell me more how I can improve my craft.

This podcast is for ALL 3 types of people... and especially those of you who fear public speaking or don't think it's for you.

In this interview with Kate Cashman we uncover why ALL voices need to be heard... even if yours is quiet and doesn't sound "confident".

Because 90% of good speaking happens before you open your mouth - it's all connected to your mindset! What do you believe about yourself and what you have to share.

We need your voice, we don't need your confidence.

    Tips from Kate:

Start by working out what's really going on in your mind - write down all the things you think about yourself? Write down what you think will happen if you public speak. Brainstorm your fears.

Aim for courage NOT confidence. Start small and flex your courage muscle by putting yourself in small situations you can practice in - give yourself evidence that you can do hard things.

Think about your audience and understand what they ACTUALLY want. Because a lot of nervousness comes from the unknown.

Don't make your nerves mean anything. Good speakers still get nervous - you're still meant to be there.

Remember you don't have to be the ultimate pro in your field - think of yourself as a contributor instead.

    ABOUT KATE CASHMAN:

Kate is a holistic speaking coach who supports entrepreneurs and executives to more courageously and confidently speak up and share their passion and knowledge with the world – on stages, in workshops, in offices and boardrooms, anywhere! All in a way that is entirely unique to you.

Your VA can't work magic if they don't know what they're working with! So, get your branding sorted before you get too excited - otherwise, whatever they create for you is likely to be not related to you or your brand, inconsistent and something you honestly quite dislike.

It can seem like such a daunting task to write allllll your your website copy (aka. your WORDS). From your Instagram captions, to website pages or flyers, all the way to long form sales pages.

But, I've found the secret (well, I didn't find it... Nadine did, and she told me all about it and I've been using it ever since).

And I just KNEW I needed to get her onto the podcast to so you could start taking advantage of it too.

Nadine's method gets some of the most INCREDIBLE pieces of copy...but get this, you don't write it - your audience does.

Join Nadine and I as we chat through what you need to implement now, BEFORE you start writing copy for your business. And trust me, I've seen this strategy in action and it WORKS.

PS. This can work if you're brand new to business OR you are a seasoned veteran.

Some top tips to wet your appetite:

BEFORE you start writing, step back and talk to you customer/s. This might be past customers/clients or ideal customer/clients. You could even get your insight from hanging out in places like Facebook groups...without posting a thing!

Look at the words your clients/customers are using, the problems they're having, any objections they might have AND their desires - what's the dream solution?
