Sermon Video, Calvary Community Church, Williams Bay, WI

Is “out of sight...out of mind” true for you? As you run your race of life, what is your ultimate goal? What are the things that compel you to keep going? What enables you to run "undistracted" by the meaningless stuff? What keeps your heart humble, fresh, invigorated for the race you’ll run this next week?

In Psalm 131, David gives us a glimpse into what it means to have a still and quiet soul. It requires that we wean ourselves from that which we have grown most fond of—ourselves. If we are to experience quietness, we must choose to find that rest in God.

Do you know anyone who is living a floundering, directionless life? How about someone who is living very intentionally, with a clear sense of purpose and mission in life? Eleven men followed Jesus with inquisitive interest. Commissioned by the risen Jesus Christ and empowered by the Holy Spirit, they lived the rest of their lives “on mission” with unwavering purpose...and 2000 years later, we worship the risen Jesus Christ in Williams Bay, Wisconsin, because they “lived commissioned.” What about you?

We’ve all been there...frustrated by unforgiveness, restrained by frayed relationships or unmet expectations left unresolved. We’ve also all experienced the freedom of forgiveness and the propulsion into new potential by being restored in relationship or role. Could today be that day for you?

In the days, weeks, years, decades, and centuries since Easter, every living human being has been invited by God to decide...is Easter a mystery or a miracle? What life-changing impact could it have in your life? And if you were “compelled by the love of the Risen Jesus Christ,” what could your life become?
