In Matthew 5:1-12 Jesus begins his Sermon on the Mount by proclaiming the blessings of his Kingdom. Unlike the demanding and unsatisfying promises of the world, Jesus promises blessing in our emptiness and service. Ultimately we find blessing when we are united with Jesus.
