We need to let the light of God's love shine through.

We need to let the light of God's love shine through.

Go and tell that the darkness has been overcome by light. Go and tell that new life is waiting. Go and tell that we have a future filled with hope. Go and tell that the message of Easter is that death does not win – that Love wins Go and tell that God has given the ultimate “no” to hate and to violence and to oppression. Go and tell that in God there is liberation, there is freedom, and there is courage. And go tell that the story isn’t over yet. Go tell that God is not done working miracles

By his words his actions, his teachings, Jesus demonstrated the non-violent, albeit disquieting and disruptive, realm of God. The Realm of God that is inclusive and comprised of mercy, of justice, of peace. Peace that erased the lines between the pious and the profane. Peace that healed the sick and brought the dead back to life. Peace that stood in the face of violence. Peace that said turn the other cheek. Peace that said love your neighbor AND your enemy.

We hear it when Jesus says, “no more of this” as he heals the ear of the Roman soldier that Peter cut off. Jesus seems to understand that violence on the part of people who are struggling for change will only be used to legitimize oppression.
