You and I are the object of and answer to Jesus prayer. In Jesus' high priestly prayer, he prays for the people around him and those who they will encounter in the final days of his ministry. But then Jesus turns His prayer to the future, to those who will eventually hear of Him through the witness of His disciples, to you and me! His prayer is simple. Let us be one as He and His Father are one and through this oneness the world will understand Him better! Give it a listen!

As we look at the teachings of Jesus sometimes it's best to slow down and take a little closer look at the text verse by verse. This week we pick apart John 5 verse by verse and see what Jesus wants us to get out of it. We meet a man who has been an invalid for 38 years then Jesus heals him. What would you do if you all of a sudden were made well?

Jesus loves to teach old things in new ways. Throughout the New Testament, Jesus repackages Old Testament truths in fun and creative ways. He never changes the laws, never changes the purpose of creation. He just shows us the way these things were originally intended to help us. We try to bring something to Easter but on the first Easter we should remember what Mary saw and the disciples too. They went looking for something but found nothing. And when we come seeking nothing we truly find everything!

As we begin our Easter celebration today, we focus on the accomplished work of Jesus. It's not enough to just speak our faith. We can't just profess our faith in Christ. We need to walk our talk. We need to possess the events of this day but more importantly, let Easter possess us.

He is risen! He is risen indeed! Alleluia!
