John tells us of the eternal Word who was, is, and ever will be very God; the One who is the Creator of all things. There is no one like Jesus. There can never be anyone like Jesus.

The curse that is rightly and justly ours, has instead fallen upon Christ! Christ became a curse for us in His sacrificial death upon a tree!

2 Samuel ends not with the story of David’s death (that is left to 1 Kings) but with an account of sin, mercy, and sacrifice.

David reminds us of what the Lord has done for him and what that means for the future of the kingdom of Israel.

David praises the Lord for delivering him from the hand of his enemies and describes the Lord in terms that show us His might and power.

There is a famine in the land – not an ordinary famine, but one of three years. David inquires of the Lord why this occurs and is told that it is a covenant curse because of Saul’s breaking Israel’s covenant with the Gibeonites
